Hi Barry,
Great job; thanks for all your efforts.
Ever since 6.94 or so, the Broadcomm B43 wireless adapter is not detected. Loading the b43 modules does not detect the device. I believe you posted a message about this in one of the other feedback threads.

I upgraded to 6.1.1 and the wallpaper setter seemed to be broken for me. I no longer can simply drop an image file in the /usr/share/backgrounds folder and set it as my wallpaper with the options of stretched, centred or tiled. When I tried to select an image, Quirky throws out an error message: &q...

Re: Quirky
However, there is another later report, see above, that xz is ok in a fat32 partition. One explanation may be because I used 'xz' from Upup Precise 3.8.3.1, which might be a different version than the one in Quirky. If I have time, I'll do some tests tonight; sending the compressed image file to md...

I have only tested on one 8GB USB Flash stick so far, one one laptop, so the install script needs more testing. 6.0.1 installed OK on a 2.5GB partition. Install files were on sda1 (FAT32) and the target partition was sda2 (ext2). The script complained about my FAT32 partition, but I ignored it and ...

Savefile bug report and fix
I decided to install 2.14X Top10 on my vintage 1999 Panasonic Toughbook CF-T2 - Welcome to Jurassic Computing , I had played around with 2.14X as a live distro before, but never tried a frugal install. Works great except . . . I found a bug! My savefile seems to keep most of my settings, but not all...

Racy (and Quirky) OK, Wary not so good
I just gave Racy, Quirky, and Wary a quick frugal install on a Dell D430 laptop with a B43 wireless chipset. Racy and Quirky both seem to work equally well with absolutely no issues so far. Solid as usual. Wary, on the other hand, has a really annoying issue with SeaMonkey. Scrolling is not smooth a...

Re: Expanded Broadcom wifi support - continued
After a week essentially away from puppy and then some false starts and dead ends, I now have a more solid Broadcom wifi experimental package. In addition to attempting to resolve the issues I described last time, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this one did not work on the Dell D430. Start...

C610 disappearing sound - workaround
The fact that sound works on firstboot and no errors afterward means that sound is still available to the system but there needs to be a manual setting set right in alsamixer or retrovol, it will be something like "front" or "rear" with the volume down or unchecked. Right click ...

Dell C610 and sound again
Hi folks, Tried the latest .9 beta on the Dell C610 with Intel 8x0 sound. Clean manual frugal install. I heard the 2 barks on initial boot, but sound is gone on all subsequent reboots after a savefile is created. No errors, and the sound icon is present in the tray at 75%. Also, strange (and unrelat...

Re: Dell C610 no sound
Sound does not work on a Dell C610 using the latest .5 beta. Alsa wizard detects the Intel sound card and goes through it's configuration without error. Test sound does not make any sound, but does not throw an error. Volume set to max. Sound works well in Wary 5.3 and Lucid Puppy 5.28 (005) hmmmm....

Re: Save file ends up in wrong dir
There is a room to improve the pupsaveconfig for this case. But do not expect in short term. If you don't want to alter the functionality right now, then at least issue a warning dialog to the user before blindly removing all slashes. One of the principal jobs of a good GUI is to validate input, bu...

Re: Save file ends up in wrong dir
###FOLDER=$(echo $FOLDER|tr -d '/') Try it - I just tested it and it seems to work fine. The issue is not simple. I am not sure if it is safe to allow deeper directories. See EDIT on my previous post. The limitation may be due to the Puppy installer scripts. Two level subdirs work fine using a manu...

Re: Save file ends up in wrong dir
FThe only real problem I found was that the save file ended up in the wrong directory. I boot with kernel /boot/slacko/vmlinuz psubdir=/boot/slacko pmedia=atahd and the save file ended up in a newly created directory "/bootslacko' instead of '/boot/slacko'. Sorry, i have not read carefully. We...
