Thanks for all the replies, I've got several scenarios to ponder,
things to learn etc, and then-things to-do kept hopping up like a
cyber whack-a-mole...
hopefully the weekend will let the dust settle.

https://u-he.com/products/zebra2/ Hi, there is a linux demo version of Zebra synthesizer to download at the link, but it says it won' install in a root system. If you have some spare time/interest, could you make a non-root user in your distro, and test the installer? It's just a normal bash script ...

Nice work integrating LinVst! An occasional pet for the latest wineHQ release would augment this nicely. I've no idea the man-hours needed to make pets, but they sure can come in handy. I'll try yours soon, LinVst and the linux version of Reaper, make an excellent pairing, with enough high quality p...

It's important to differentiate between 1. an operating system 2. a purpose-dedicated operating system 3. a digital-audio-workstion or stand-alone application installed in an operating system 4. plugins hosted by digital-audio-workstations or standalone apps Studio 1337 takes an operating system, de...

One of my favorite uses for Studio 1337 is to record some arpeggios or sequences at high speed on the high octaves of the midi keyboard, with multiple instances of rakarrack providing multiple 'multi-effects', and importing the results into audacity sound editor. By playing it back at several slower...

Re: Studio 13.37 3.0 is out!

Congrats, l0wt3ch! Looks great. ... includes an autoinstall script for downloading and installing REAPER to use VST plugins natively. I'm curious as to how well Reaper actually performs in Studio 13.37 3.0 (under Wine - correct?) - I've been happily using Reaper for many years in Windows, and could...

Most linux distros are shovel-ware, stack all the apps you can in an iso, hope you've included all the dependencies, then dance before the update altars, and hope a new gcc doesn't strike it all dead. Really, there are a lot of apps hand compiled to a custom RT kernel, multiple audio subsystems to i...

I think that such a nice promotion thread should at least provide some hints to what Studio is and what is does. :?: Trying the link would be a good start, but in a nutshell, for those (hopefully many new puppy users) unfamiliar, Studio 1337 uses a puppy linux base, and builds a system of linux aud...

This subforum is for derivatives, the title does not include the words free or commercial. On a broader scale, it's crucial that cutting edge and innovative releases get solid promotional coverage, unless you want puppy linux to remain a backwater distro into the ages. Don't be bitter, when you can ...

Puppy with most complete java implementation?

My goal is to get Bitwig daw running in a Puppy,
but Bitwig requires a full java environment.

Best java Puppy or java .sfs file?

Studio 1337 is running Harrison Mixbus daw very well,
and hosting U-he linux ports, which install by
running a script, bypassing repository issues.

Might be good to have a list of known compatible intel Macs growing on the new site. Morphos OS did that as they were adding support for various G4/G5 macs, and it helps people shop accordingly. Any schools or architects nearby? They likley use various vintage macs, could be a way to test a few mode...

don't you think $75 is a bit steep? Mind you, I don't do audio editing and I probably would have thrown out up to about $25 just to see how it handled the different boot options.. Traveling the holidays with a puppy

With Thanksgiving and Christmas, there may be some kids traveling to Grandmas house, and with extra days/hours at home away from school. An inexpensive midi keyboard, and a used laptop can be very good investments, and travel nicely. The Studio 1337, and other puppy variants, can provide great ways ...
