Well David, thanks for the report. Here's my update. I switched to different usb drive , and plugged it into the port(I did have them on a cable because the ports are on the back) and used Slacko 5.4 which has an earlier 3.2 kernel as I had it on the drive already with save file. I installed a few o...

As always, this seems to be an improvement over the last version, however I'm experiencing a problem and I'm not entirely sure if it's my hardware or what. It's been happening since 5.4 or maybe before that (I think it wasn't a problem with 5.1 ), but there was quite a while that this was not occurr...

I started using Puppy years ago around Lucid's introduction or maybe before, when I was having problems and needed a small rescue OS to troubleshoot and so fourth. At the time, I got a bit frustrated with a few hardware issues, that made it so that I couldn't use it exclusively, such as graphics/net...

Yeah I think I would've done that but I run Slacko from a USB drive so I think I had problems with memory/space when I tried to install/run the DEVX module successfully. Or maybe I just got errors. It's been a while since I tried but I didn't have much luck. You probably should've just replied to th...

Free Roguelike Games

This guy has a collection of roguelikes he's made, and one is browser based but I can't play for some reason, and one other has a linux version. http://www.tndwolf.org/ Browser game: http://www.tndwolf.org/rokr/index.html Another favorite roguelike is ToME (I use debug mode  ) www.te4.org A...

I meant that you have to compile the libstdc 6.0.16 to get the updated glibc, not that you would compile glibc itself, of course. But I see what you're saying- if you did this, then certain binaries included with the distro likely wouldn't work as they're dependent on the old glibc in libstdc. I tho...

You cant just download a newer glibc lib and put it in your system. It's a core component and needs to be there from the ground up. You'll need to find a puppy release that already has the correct glibc version in it. Check the latest Presice version. GLIBC isn't a lib, it's a part of one(libstdc++...

You can probably find the lib you're looking for if you search for "libs with links" at http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html But just so you know- that's just the ENGINE. You will only be able to play the shareware levels if you don't have a copy of the original game. "The only ...

Looks nice. XFCE window manager, and WINE included and looks like compiz from the screenshots. Says it's mostly derived from NOP(Nearly Office Puppy) I still haven't tried it but I will today or tomorrow. Thanks again!

That's a bit vague but I'll download it and try it out. It's a bit larger so I assume you've added some nice stuff. But just for everyone else considering downloading I want to see some details on this. Is it bigger because wine is included or? Based on Slacko(slackware compatible) or Lucid, Precise...

I thought that the bluetooth modules should do that on their own. You shouldn't need to re-route anything. Looking around, it appears that these packages must not include alsa (sound) for headsets. The following pet packages are from years ago so they may or may not work but it's worth a try. If it ...

Do you have the bluetooth icon in the task bar? If you do, you should be able to at least see if it's recognized as a generic device or a headset. It could be that you have to "set up new device" and select headsets in the "device type" section. If that's not the problem then I'm...

Thanks.

That's odd though. I was using a 10.x version of flash, and I seem to recall the same thing happening with previous versions in Lucid.

But after installing v11, it doesn't do that anymore but it does seem to constantly use more resources and the video is more "choppy" than v10.

But the REAL acid rain pic might make a good wallpaper :D

Freezing streaming video issues?

This has happened to me on every puppy I've used(since before Lucid and now Slacko) and on multiple computers(integrated intel graphics with mesa installed). So it doesn't seem to be a bug with any specific puppy variant. If it's puppy it seems to be all of them. It's happened when installed frugall...

It was compiled the same way as all puppy packages. Install devx and download the source code of the program and find one of the tutorial/how-to posts on compiling.

If you need help finding that information, search with this:
