You can put the daemon in your startup folder so that it will start with puppy. Or make yourself a nice desktop icon.
EDIT: oh, it's Saluki, not puppy. but it should work either ways.

I'm sure screensaver isn't too hard. But Im not sure what screen saver wary uses, so i cant help you there.
