Emdebian
Maybe you are all aware of the "official" Emdebian project already, but I was completely oblivious of its existence (which really isn't saying much by the way...): From the site: Embedded Debian tries to strip Debian down to be a much smaller system whilst keeping all the good things. This...

SOPA revived
Well it looks like that man, the best, most kind-hearted, generous and honest of men, Mr. Rupert "Faux News" Murdoch, has taken it upon himself to resurrect SOPA. Good thing the rumour about SOPA being dead was just a false alarm - phew - was actually worried there for a bit. God bless his...

MPlayer
Hi,
MPlayer is still not saving changes in Edit->Preferences. If I close it and run it again, all selections are back at default (this is without rebooting or restarting X). In Three-Headed Dog, I don't have this problem. Running frugal install off of HD.

German Hackers: Gov't Trojan Capable of Planting Evidence
From http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=22966 "one of the most respected hacker groups -- Germany's Chaos Computer Club (CCC) -- appears to have caught German officials red-handed in a scheme that gives German authorities the tools necessary to conduct intrusive surveillance of their ...

Hmm, after rebooting, it seems my wireless settings are reset. I previously got the ath9k_htc driver for my TP-Link TL-WN821Nv3 USB WiFi dongle working with Tempestuous' extra firmware for Three-Headed Dog, but now it's back to square one. EDIT: Tried SlackoRC++, and the firmware must be included in...

My vote is to keep things the Debian way to prevent any possible future compatibility or set-up problems. Besides, GRUB2 is endorsed by more or less the entire open source world, whereas GRUB4DOS is an effort by a couple of Chinese enthusiasts, which hence could stop being developed at any given mom...

Wealth of knowledge on Reboot.pro
There's a wealth of knowledge available regarding booting Linux and Windows in all ways imaginable over at http://reboot.pro/. IMO, it's well worth checking out. My own experience with GRUB2 is limited, so I unfortunately don't know about the iso-booting with rw support solution.

...nameserver 192.168.1.1 as this is the industry standard default ip of most routers in the home environment... IMO, you shouldn't assume anything about the way people set up their networking. Question for Everyone: Should Three-Headed Dog try to accommodate more drivers and firmware, even to the extent of growing by 5MB (or more)? YES - I vote for adding more firmware for networking (wireless), since being able to get online seems essential to me. At least try to support the drivers alr...
