There is some threads describing the fix for the lappy vid problem. Also, at 1024x768 at the most you can only run 16bit color, 800x600 you can then go to 24bit true color... Do a forum search for Toshiba Laptops, you should be able to find the threads with the relevant info to allow Puppy to run on...

Ya, I have a lot of scsi hardware that would be nice to put to use with puppy.
And it is fast, server grade hardware.
They do not build stuff like they used to..

Hmm, I got that far as well. Let me pull out my scsi hardware, and see whats up.. If i remember correctly, Puppy if booted from an IDE cd/hd or USB will read/write to a scsi drive with no problems... But when you want to boot from that drive, grub works fine, as it did with my setup to boot either p...

DigiPup-216 Down load links

DigiPup 2.16 can be found here: http://puppyisos.org/isos/2007-01-to-06/ Just look for "digipup216.iso" at 153743 kb in size.. DigiPup 2.16 has the same applications added to Puppy as the original, but was remastered using Puppy 2.16 with Firefox as the main browser, and CUPS for printing....

Re: HAM Radio

Also is it possible to make your very specialised distro but no doubt useful to HAMS (if that is the right word) a .pet - as Warren has done with EZpup? This would mean it would be an add on and always up to date (using the core Pup) Anyway good luck :) Actually, the .pet apps are the same as the o...

Digi Pup 2.16

I have remastered Digi Pup with the latest Puppy release "2.16".
I was wondering, how to upload the iso image to a repository?
It has the original DigiPup prgs, that are added and checked.

If I remember in OO, it will only see the default printer, so if your networked
printer was installed 1st, it was set up as the default..

Re: Improve DVD playback for low spec pc

2 simple rules for optimal video playback performace in Linux: 1. Use Xorg. 2. Use the "xv" video out option for both Gxine and MPlayer. And on a low-spec computer such as Pentium 1, use MPlayer to launch the video file from the commandline. The gui requires a lot of overhead. Could a per...

Agreed, AND I do have LOTS of drive space, but the way I asked the question,
was more of a learning curve/experience.

I am happy with 2.16 and OO with manually added specific programs... :D

'_xxx' SFS files that are not for the current version get totally excluded from the left-pane selection list, so you can't load them. I did that deliberately, as my experience is that if people are given the slightest chance to do something wrong, then someone will -- well, most people will realise...

The boot manager DOES allow one to use the Puppy version. DO NOT UNCHECK the box towards the bottom, and rename up to 3 sfs with _"VERSION", or (OO_2.16.sfs) to automagically load em on boot. Bob 8) this is exactly the problem! i have winexx_212.sfs which i want to use for both puppy 2.12...

Zonbu box.

Looks like some one has a new mini Linux box; Zonbu I do not know what they are running for a Distro, But Puppy does everything that they claim to do, and the box alone with preloaded distro is $249... It has 512m ram with a 4G cflash disk... The unit itself looks "very familiar" Bo...

Re: Open Office will not display in pup216 final?

I rename the openoffice.2.2.0.sfs to ooffice_216.sfs then put the new one in same place of pup_save.sfs. Reboot pupy216 and use BootManager ... and add the ooffice_216.sfs. That will work If you unchecked the box on the bottom for 2.16 sfs only, you can add the OO sfs without changing the name... W...
