Re: Criti "Size"

Beware it is technical. :D I always found I had a good eye for this sort of thing. When I was 14 yrs old I "managed" a "bargain bar" in a large department store. It sold everything that was on clearance at ridiculous prices. One day we had a stock of ladies bra's to clear. I was...

You've worked even harder than Warren did on 4.2 and that was an outstanding achievement. With due respect to my friend Warren I think lupu series eclipses 4.2X series and has expanded Puppy's demographic, interest and most importantly fun! Be comfortable brother in the fact that your early inspira...

Good to hear. I just completed my first full download and sort using geeqie to manage my RAW workflow. Unless you are a photographer shooting in RAW formats (DNG in my case) you can have no idea just how much time and effort you've saved me by recompiling this little gem (and thanks to Jemima for f...

@WhoDo, it should be ok with 511 also. Thanks, muggins. Very much appreciated. I'll try it and keep my fingers crossed. If it works I can dump wine and faststone viewer (the only reason I use wine - pity it's not ported to Linux). Thanks again, mate. 8) Edit: Worked like a charm! Woohoo! Even lets ...

I'm getting the same error as mimmo, muggins. Symbol lookup error. I'm using Lucid 5.1 and the symlinks already exist. Any other ideas? Program runs for me but crashes when I try to select any image in my directory. The directory exists outside the pupsave file, so I hope that's not the problem.[/qu...

I'm afraid that I'm little better than a passenger at this point, Aitch. I did state at the outset, when proposing the idea of a PLUG, that I didn't really have time for any active role. I've been trying to support first shariebeth and lately you in your endeavours to get this thing going. I will tr...

OK, a starter - next? It's nice to see some enthusiasm, Aitch. I have a suggestion, though. Let's not reinvent the wheel as it were. Much of what you asked for is already available in the existing wiki. If that also becomes the initial point of contact for newbies, then a host of problems are avoid...

I am prepared to bring the PLUG sub-section back, and provide database or whatever else is required/requested for the project. But given the recent mess I have the following conditions : At least 3 of the following agree to be in charge (with admin rights over PLUG related content) : ttuuxxx, Aitch...

The PLUG forum was made without John de Murga's authorization. I just removed it. All you PLUG forum wannabes can get his full authorization next time around. After it was made, I was contacted by John and we talked about it and he gave it the green light so put it back. ttuuxxx And that should be ...

Some folks used it.....hardly and of the devs listed their works, so the project came to a screeching halt. Perhaps it was too much to ask the Devs to enter information and maintain it? Here is a link to the database....the structure and number of fields could be modified if there is a perceived ne...

With all due respect to previous posters, the PLUG is about giving users a voice. Sure, they now have the forum and the myriad of threads, sub-forums, etc. The problem is that even Barry doesn't have the time or the energy to search through all of that for useful ideas and still find time to code, a...

PLUG Objectives

When I was project coordinator for Puppy, first with 2.15CE and later with 4.2x series, there was a cacophony of voices clamoring to be heard on the subject of what Puppy could or should be. In the beginning it was easy to pick out the voices of reason, but in the end there was so much "sound&q...

I tinkered (carefully) with the permissions for the PLUG forum and the Compiling forum. Everyone should be able to see the Compiling forum now, even if they aren't logged in or registered. It's not up to the Admin team to decide whether there should be a single voice to speak for Puppy, or who that voice should be. As far as I'm concerned, my job is to make this forum as useful as possible for users of Puppy Linux. Anything else is above my pay grade. :) Has anyone noticed the Usergr...

About the idea of a "single voice" the only way I could see it being of benefit is if the developers only listened to that single voice. It would be the developers call to shut down other avenues of communications. In your previous experience for an example, you could have posted or commu...

That would make person A a politician claiming a mandate for his/her policies whether they were outlined prior to an election or not!
