Bluetooth in Lucid

It's all rather frustrating this bluetooth mouse thing. Last week I eventually got the bluetooth applet running with Lucid and my mouse working for one session. I decided then on a fresh install to check things would work again. Further attempts to install the libxcb-1.0 pet all result in a locked c...

Bluetooth

I'd prefer to stay with Lucid after having a play around with Fluppy last night. I got Fluppy's wifi working and it recognised that I had a microsoft bluetooth mouse but that's as far as I got. My patience runs out having to use the trackpad. With Lucid, so far I've downloaded some bluetooth package...

So where is bluetooth support in Lucid?

I've returned this week to look at Puppy because I want a Linux USB stick OS that I can use with my Acer AA0 XP netbook when I'm away from home. Unfortunately I still need XP on a PC because Tomtom Home doesn't run under Wine. I want to disturb as little as possible the XP install on my netbook. I'm...

3G connected but no internet

Thanks rerwin for the reply. As far as I am aware I am doing what is needed to connect with 3G. I have installed the usual packages for my Huawei e272, the main 3G wireless pet, the usb mode switch and the lastest patch. I can get a dialogue box saying something like- Carrier detected, waiting for p...

Problem getting onto the internet

I'm running Puppy 4.2 from a USB stick on my Acer A0 and did manage a couple of weeks back to configure my unlock Huawei e272 and connect to the internet with 3G. I then played around with MWconn under Wine because I want to send SMS text messages. I then lost 3G so removed and re-installed the pack...

Copy and paste not working into the console

What's the reason and solution why I am not able to copy and paste commands into the console? Forgive me for this simple question but I dip in and out of Puppy as the need arises. My Acer netbook has a trac pad and I've also added a bluetooth mouse. I'm able to select and copy text commands from the...

Thanks Beem but I'd like some more information. I've got full Puppy 4.1 and I'd like to upgrade to 4.2 for now (until May) but without having to go through all the configurations for my hardware after a fresh iso install. Please point me a bit closer in the right direction of the solution.

Can I upgrade update my Puppy to the latest version?

Sorry for asking this basic question but can I upgrade my last year's Puppy 4 to the current version or do I have to start afresh and download a new iso? I boot Puppy 4 from a USB stick and after some while got wifi and bluetooth mouse configured. This took some while. Is there an Update Manager app...

I've just surprised myself and got my Microsoft 5000v1.0 bluetooth mouse working with my Acer Aspire One netbook, This is really a big step forward because I don't like the track pad. It's working well but unfortunately I suspect my mouse wont work after a reboot but at least this is a start. Thanks...

Job done after I downloaded a newer Puppy iso. I'm posting with wifi from my USB flash stick. A few changes to xorg were needed to get a satisfactory resolution and touch pad. One thing I've found that's different, the desktop's "Connect" icon rather than going into the network wizard it o...

tempestuous you deserve a star, I suspect that I've now found the reason why my wifi doesn't work. I'd used UNetbootin running on XP to create my USB flash Puppy 4.1 and the only Puppy version option was the "Latest_Live" so I assumed it was the latest kernel but uname -r showed otherwise,...

I'm not making any progress. I removed and re-installed the madwifi-hal package and I can see it's there in Petget package manager. Rebooting, selecting the ath_pci , rebooting etc doesn't get my wlan(0) recognised. I'm not really sure if I'm loading a new ath_pci or the old original ath_pci.Whilst ...

Thanks iscraigh, after a re-boot I've got into network wizard and it just shows eth(0) active. There's no relevant module in the list of modules except ath_pci which doesn't work (as expected). What's gone wrong? Whilst ath_pci isn't loaded nevertheless do I have to blacklist it? Added later: My AA0...

I'll need some help getting wifi to work on my Acer Aspire One with it's Atheros AR242x chipset. I'm using P4.1 and after reading the advice on here I assumed that I need to use the madwifi sourced ath5k_pci driver which I downloaded ie. madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6-r3861-k2.6.25.16 wifi-modules. I let the ...

Thanks again MU, renaming my two downloaded british.hash files in Abiword's dictionary file to american.hash solved the problem, I now have as default the English UK dictionary.

Does Puppy leave anything on my hard drive afterwards?

I just want confirmation that booting Puppy from my multi-session CD that it leaves nothing or nothing significant on my hard drive. I suspect that it doesn't but I'd like some confirmation. Is there an optimal amout of memory if you're running an older PC? Often it's far cheaper if you have an olde...
