An old Office pet I already mentioned, works in my racy 522 on Harddisk ..... but keeps crashing in 2 rather new and cleanly installed USB sticks. Apart from the seeming HD/usbStick difference, does somebody happen to know a newer Office that works in racy? I need Presentation for pps/ppt files. The...

Guvcview from package manager cannot work, because of missing dependencies. This has been handled in the forum and I followed the there given direct links to get both guvcview_wary-1.5.0.pet and guvcview_wary_DEP-1.5.0.pet, together working fine now. === Puzzle: instead of the dead Libreoffice_sfs o...

Openoffice SFS I found in packet manager does not work! Can I safely delete the relevant files? Edit : apparently it is the same sfs as mentioned by Raffy months ago .... why is it still offered in SFS section of package manager? ....... ADDITIONAL: Racy can't use the old OpenOffice sfs4 that Barry ...

Well, at least post the content of those two files then. Cannot, as I am not a technician and moreover, would not know how to follow up suggestions safely; if I damage something, cannot repair, by lack of insight. http://caleudum.com/play-vlc-and-chromium-browser-on-backtrack-5/ Just will have to w...

Have you tried editing /etc/mailcap? Actually, I now see a mention that chromium tries to use xdg-open to figure out how to open files. xdg-open is a shell script - have a look at it, too. Maybe such could work (sometimes) for a technician ... which I aint. Lots of nearcoming suggestions on the Web...

Chromium 18 seemingly installs well in my lupu 525 and is automatically promoted to "default browser" .... however, I cannot get it to work, it does not open up.

Hardware luck, for as long as it may last: got 2x HD 80GB working again, except cannot boot independently so I leave the puppy CD in one of my 2 players. RAM 1GB is helped a lot by each HD having a 2GB swap as first partition. FF 3.6.13 still behaving fairly well, few crashes, recovering rather easi...

Thank you for trying, Rolf, but unluckily, I cannot relate your explanation to my experiences (neither can I explain in technical terms what I stumble upon). Stays: in case of troubles related to an SFS, I better wipe out and re-install Puppy than trying to intervene. I lack the technical insight. L...
