Send FAX from hispeed connection??

Can I send scanned image to a FAX phone number, with DSL at my end? these days, it can be done. many phone companies offer G3-fax as the only "analogue" service over their digitized lines, after heavy meddling with the intricacies involved in theeir routers/access devices. technically, it...

puppy 5.1 & efax = great !

to answer the question: puppy 5.1 lucid has a nice efax-gtk pet http://www.murga-linux.com/puppyviewtopic.php?p=442476#442476 which works with slmodem, USR-5637 and probably many more modems. the pet itself should give no problems, once you can already dial out and have got your modem to work in pup...

here at 14400 bps:

slmodem 2.9.11
efax 0.9a
efax-gtk 3.2.4

great news. I found ure post myself a second ago. with this pet faxing works very well. efax works as command line interface independently also. tested with slmodem 2.9.11 sending fax seemd to work, but receiving was unreliable. ghostscript crashed eventually, even tho the remote retrained slmodem d...

wow!

are you suggesting efax is actually working ? I have some softmodem's that have got drivers but I would rather rely on a USB modem instead, if I knew that it would be working in a recent Linux distro.

SmartLink 56k PCI no longer supported by Puppy 5.1?

I got slmodem running with just typing
slmodemd -c GERMANY --alsa
in puppy 5.1 and all worked.

above question (with ver. 5.1 mentioned) is clarifying your issue better.

scanmodem.gz gets you dialled up / SLmodem

back in puppy 3.0 my Agere AC97 softmodem was reliably autodetected. these days have long gone by. so now in puppy 5.1, you have to get the shell script scanmodem http://132.68.73.235/linmodems/packages/scanModem.gz to tell you what to do. :!: I seriously suggest to include scanmodem.sh in puppy :!:...

lucid 5.1 very good already

wow!
.
lucid 5.1 supports the IL-1 netbook very good:

only thing missing is modem out of the box (tho its feasibly by tweaking)

and hires external monitor (probably not doable right now.)

still, with lucid IL-1 is one hell of a $200 USD machine with nice flash-videoplay and all !

How to get Puppy 4.00 to detect softmodem when booting

My softmodem port is /dev/ttySHFS0, and Puppies 2.17 and 3.01 detect this automatically on bootup. Puppy 4.00 does not. However, when I do the modem probe from Pupdial, it finds it with no trouble. I think, puppy 4.0 was rather good at modem detection. it found my ttySL0 automagically no prob. (unl...

VIA softmodem 1106:3068 also works

great ! Conexant HSFi Softmodem (Winmodem / Linmodem) PCI card works excellent out of the box with puppy 4.3. wvdial works on first trial. I still try to figure out the real connect speed. scanmodem from www.linmodem.org finds the softmodem, but the script hangs somehow after that (I had that pretty...

softmodem works nicely

I just wanted to report success with auto detection of softmodem in Puppy 4.0 Actually I still don't know exactly which modem chip it is, but it works with the slmodemd driver its got to be some smartmodem. it probably sits on the VIA chipset audio bus or sth. on a mitac laptop. It probably is not m...

915resolution

Hi, FrankA I’ve got the standard Xvesa X server working at 800×480, that was easy — you need to go into /usr/X11R7/bin/xwin and bypass the ‘ddcprobe’ and just run the '915resolution 38 800 480' and set that as the only available resolution. He was referring to the Intel Classmate, but the fix shoul...

Quanta IL1

it is based on the Quanta IL1 reference design, which has numerous clones
worldwide and ships in volume. it is a commercial competitor to the OLPC.

I see to it to get puppy fixes together for it.
