I also had an old Toshiba that was able to reboot with puppy 431, it was a satellite 4070 cdt celeron 366 mhz 128 mb ram 4 GB HD.
I think the reboot issue is related only to Satellite 1800 models.

I must admit I mixed up files in the puppy 431 folder, very embarassing.

now Puppy 431 boots correctly
with:
title Puppy Linux 431 frugal test
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /puppy431/vmlinuz pmedia=atahd noapic irqpoll acpi=force
initrd /puppy431/initrd.gz

but reboot fails.

rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /puppy431/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 psubdir=puppy431 pmedia=atahd nosmp irqpoll acpi=force
initrd /puppy431/initrd.gz

it loaded puppy431 save file with quirky-120.sfs again
quirky is on sda3 ext2, puppy431 on sda1 fat32

The reason why the flash player is so slow and mplayer is so fast on underpowered cpu is that flash uses a lot of cpu a very few videochip hardware acceleration. while Mplayer or VLC use the most possible hardware acceleration available on your video chip, and the least possible cpu resources. I bel...

So many suggestions. mill0001 suggests something interesting. Takes not a long tiem to test. Flash also remind you of a test to make and why not test what looseSCREWorTWO says about the make active part too. Would be cool if we find out what is going on. tested mill0001 suggestion but failed. I did...

What is the last message you see before the screen goes blank. Please specify at each answer in what puppy you do the test, as you try a lot of things like 4.3.1, 4.1.2 and quirky (or was it lucid?) We have to get a clear view of the issue. the last message message I see in puppy 431 and quirky 1.1...

Nooby, I changed the partition to ext2, no change I did try the cd on a desktop, it reboots. I found this error in /temp/xerrs.log Current version o...
