I've given up. I installed it in pup and the xorg.log says that it is accelerating but I still only get ~14fps in the test. Oh well I was going to order a new card anyway.

i810 chipset acceleration

I tried to use the 3d-control center but it doesnt do anything. I'm in pup2.12 and the card is a "Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics". I found this http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2006-May/015252.html and was wondering if I actually need that...

are all the files suppost to be in image.gz? or is there suppost to be a usr_cram? Because when I extracted the iso there was no usr_cram. Could this be the reason for the kernel panics?

pekwm is a light and fast window manager. It sports features like windowsticking and tabbed windows. It's very customisable. There are loads of themes(I will upload some later). It doesn't have a panel but you can use another one like fbpanel if you wish(I personally like lxpanel but it doesn't play...

first question is what xserver are you useing(xvesa or xorg). Secondly if you think it may just be contrast problems try running tkgamma(its in the xorg wizard in the menu or just type that into a console and run it)
