Re: Proposed: a Puppy subversion repository

As more people participates on different Puppy projects it becomes important to coordinate the work. In the past I have proposed creating a repository to coordinate this effort. I've done some research and found that our best option would be to use a subversion repository. Many open source projects...

Re: Die! NTFS.

Today, Barry writes: "The 2.6.16.7 kernel supports safe writing to NTFS partitions" and tells us: "Puppy2 now has full NTFS write-support enabled". Why, Barry, why?! You may be an undisputed genius, but it's always been my view that those using XP & NTFS deserve all they get...

Well, that's the bad thing  I'm currently not running Puppy. I've installed the software on Windows.

Damn, I hoped (since there's a Linux download on the site) that it would work in Puppy.
Can someone compile it?

Damnit :-? The forum ate my previous post! I hope it tasted well! Anyways... I too was put off by the looks of the site. A redesign, imho, would be a very good idea. Perhaps a webmaster can be appointed (or a designing competition could be held). But please, let the competitors use at least css! I'l...

Just thought of something...
You'll need an extra script, for when icons are added to the desktop.

Code: Select all

clicked = 0[code]
Or is clicked a special scripting function

Response times seem good :-)

I would however advise not to install mods (or at least not much). I think this forum might turn out to be very large eventually. Mods (not the moderator type :-P ) might make migrating to the next phpBB version more difficult!

It's a bit slow, that's true, but the more it is used, the faster it will become (at least that's how I understood it).

Reduce bandwidth usage by using Coral cache?

Would it be possible to reduce bandwidth usage? http://wiki.coralcdn.org/wiki.php

Would be nice if all the puppy sites had more bandwidth available ;-)

Hmm... This is probably why our professor started with Java ;-)
If you get OOP right from the start, it seems so logical :-P

And I've done little programs like you say: the post-office and similar things.

Well, I do have to admit it's getting slow, but like the above person says: money is needed to change such thing ;-)

Out of curiosity: what is the forum hosted on? Is it on a personal server, or by a hosting company?

And what's the monthly bandwidth usage?

Well, seems to be a lot of information on Intel processors ;-) Don't forget to take a good look at the AMD processors as well! Like someone said, you might get more bang for the buck. My laptop, for example, has an AMD Turion 64-bit inside. Another laptop with similar specs (buth with a Pentium M), ...
