If this truly is the place to request dot-pups, then I would strongly, from the bottom of my heart request that some smart bastard try and port VLC for Puppy.... It really is the superior media player as far as I'm concerned, I've even got it to play full-srceen in Win98 (where nothing else would).....

This is strange, yet only slightly related to the above... I asked if it would make a differrence whether or not I reformatted the drive that the sais folder is in as ext3, and didn't really get an answer (that's OK, it was just an aside!). Well, this is weird, I went ahead and did it, and it seems ...

:D

Very well documented road you have taken... Glad to have you.

The Xine engine fails to start? That seems to Xine for you (sorry xine fans). I find that Xine isn't really the best media player for playing mp3's or video's that have spaces in their names. Maybe try renaming the media you're trying to play, or get Mplayer. :D [/b]

I'd be curious to see that as well. Myself I don't belong to any LUG's, and am about to embark on a cross country move... so, hopefully there will be a good group of people wherever I end up. That's a shame that they won't take the Puppy seriously... Though it may work to Puppy's advantage. You know...

For me (not running a multi-session CD) I've found that the background (seagull) always dissapears if I set my resolution higher than 1024x7678. Strangely, no matter whether I set it to tile, fillscreen or whatever, it doesn't seem to make a differrence. Strange, because other pictures that I have t...

That is very very strange.... Where did you download the ISO from?

You are right, that's not normal. Puppy is not supposed to do those things. :(

Well, it's gone real well, except I'm having the same issue with it that I'm having with my Debian configuration, namely I can't seem to have very nice looking fonts. I've forgotten of course to write down or backup the original config file (which as we all know is a very trendy, cool thing to do th...

:D That's a lot of questions at once, and not being an expert I won't try and answer all of them for you. There's plenty around I'm sure who will! First, for playing music I would suggest the xmms dot pup from here http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/DotPups I find Xine doesn't work the best for music...

It's a slightly differrent version, or at least the layout of xfree86config is differrent. I'm getting it sorted out. So far, by simply copying it over I get absolutely perfect video playback, but the fonts are all messed up. I'll have to mix and match between the two files, I'm getting there. This ...

Bladehunter, thank you so, so much for this. I had a slight problem trying to get my nvidia card configured, and I'm sure to try it a couple more times to be sure that I have it right, but this release brings Puppy parrallel (for me) with my Debian install... I can actually watch movies now ...

Hey, you know that cute Puppy that we get to admire for about 5 seconds if we boot off of the live CD? How hard would it be to load the boot messages on top of the picture? I think that would look really nice. That way we could still see the messages, yet have something pretty to look at in the mean...

I'm not sure why you don't have the seagull as yer default background, but you should be able to set whatever picture you want as your background by searching the start menu. Go to Control Panel, Desktop Background (or something really close, not on Puppy right now sorry). You can then set whatever ...

Good points there... I to enjoy being able to make my desktop look and act and feel pretty much however I wish... :D There's a fine line though between giving someone the choice to modify their desktop and dumbing them down. Currently, with Puppy, we boot into FVWM by default, because that's Barry's...

Hope that helps! :D
