Thanks again, tronkel! I don't mind promoting something that I feel deserves it. I feel Norhtec deserves the exposure so I'll keep promoting them. Same goes for Puppy Linux, for that matter! I'll be sure to keep the gang informed of my experiences. I can say this: I've used an SD card in my ASUS Eee...

judland, what version of Puppy are you running on yours? I'm thinking about using 214X from ttuuxxx. You're welcome! I have the Edubook build of Puppy 4.3.1 installed. It's the latest version of Puppy with special patches made to the kernel to provide sound and WIFI support on the Edubook. I'm not ...

I've owned my EeePC 701 since they first came to market (summer 2007?) and it's been my main PC all that time, so I'm quite accustomed to the smaller keyboard. I'm pleased that the Edubook remained the same size (approx.) as the EeePC, even though it has a larger screen. I really like the portabilit...

It is 22.5cm x 15.5cm and approx. 3.5cm thick (at it's thickest point with LCD closed).

From what I can tell, the keyboard is the exact same keyboard as the one in the EeePC 701... if that helps at all.

Just received mine from Norhtec a couple weeks ago. It's a great little PC. Puppy runs really well on it. I bought the bare bones system (512 MB of RAM, power cord, no SD card, no WiFi, no batteries) for US$160. They charged $50 for shipping and handling via a courier - took less than a week to reac...

You could always try adjusting the mouse sensitivity by selecting, from the Main Menu, Desktop -> pupX set properties of X

With this application, you can set the acceleration and sensitivity of the mouse pointer. This may help.

Great! If that is the case, then this will probably also mean good support for Norhtec's "Surfboard" PC, too (having the same DeviceonChip system and all)!

BINGO! That was it... strangely enough. If I put the ISO onto a USB device and booted from that, I got sound. Strange. I never had that problem before. But thank you for the suggestion! I'll be sure to mention this little tid-bit in my review of the Edubook (in case others experience the same issue)...

Puppy Sound Problems

Well, I e-mailed Norhtec and Michael replied to me. He recommended that I try using the Puppy ISO file found on their Deviceonchip.com website. So I did. Still no sound on my EduBook. I burned the ISO from the Deviceonchip website to a CD twice, so I know I'm using the right image. I'm also sure the...

I just tried this build on my new Edubook, but I still couldn't get any sound from the sound chip. I followed all of the instructions on creating the ISO, and it seemed to have worked as it was supposed to... eve the md5sum looked correct. I burned the new ISO to a CD and booted up the Edubook with ...

Do you know anything about the batteries that are used in the Edubook? They are AA yes, but a type that you can't buy in a supermarket or hardware store, so I was wondering where you would get them from -- is there an online supplier that would sell them cheap? I'm just using some regular NiMH rech...

Phizone, thanks a bunch for the sshfs package! I've been looking for this, as it's how I connect my netbook to my home server (which contains all of my personal files).
