Webcam (0c45-613e) recognized but screen still black

Hello team. I'm trying to get this webcam (Trust HiRes Webcam Live) working. I've another one (0c45-602c, older) which is working fine. It seems recognized (see dmesg output below) but any apps trying to make use of it provides no errors but a black screen. Linux video capture interface: v2.00 gspca...

Thanks: it works perfectly! Only issue I got was because Firewall not disabled: I would put the word Firewall on bold in page 1 for future users. It's becoming a need as new Netbooks with Win7 Starter don't allow for IPP printing. Did anybody try sharing a scanner as well (I already had it shared in...

Tx Kattman. I tried the "nohook resolve.conf" first, checking the nameservers were kept: they were, unfortunately I made a mistake coding them, didn't notice, but I was unable to go anywhere. Before getting the mistake was there, I started playing around with interfaces and booted a couple...

SOLVED - Move from DHCP to Static IP

I've been checking for a while in the forum, but every solution I tried (wizard and save, making the change in /etc/resolv.conf, making the change in /etc/network) doesn't solve the problem. Each time I reboot, it turns back to DHCP if ever was Static before (only by wizard and from command line). C...

wow! A lot of support, very short time: great forum!
I'm sorry, I don't have motherboard details with me, only the CPU (see my first post). Anything else I need to post on hw config?
I'm trying to install latest version, from the pup-431.iso image.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick replay. Yes, the PC boots without problems if I use boot cd from another distribution (Xubuntu), so booting from the CD is enabled and working fine. I've been also using the same CD on another (newest) PC, and it boots on Puppy without any problem, so the mastered CD looks ok, t...

Pupppy Linux doesn't start on my old Celeron 400

I'm trying to boot Puppy on my old Celeron 400 (mendoncino) PC, without success. At boot time it stays with the CD for a while, then switches to HD installed OS. I don't have any opportunity to specify any option: it switches without "any comment". The mastered CD looks good (I've tried on...
