Distrowatch listing for Debian Dog

Hello fred and all contributers, Reading the review on Quirky Linux on distrowatch I wonder if you are interested to put DebianDog on the waiting list. The criteria for a listing (homepage, support, history) surly are met. On the other hand it would also attract some - maybe - unwanted traffic. What...

Hi Guys,

don't necromance this old thread. Download links in first posts are broken, and the code bitrots since several years. Debian Live is dead and hijacked - to wrap it up:
move on, let CAT rest in peace.
Cheers and take care ...

Thank you toni

Dear group, I seldom post here theses days, what I see makes me sad. From every contact I had I have to say saintless is one of the most well meaning and helpful persons I ever met online, probably also in real life. He put a lot of work and energy in it, both technically and also socially. I just w...

I made an error in my previous post. Please bear with me I am a bit rusty.
One needs to append the option -keep-as-directory in the mksquashfs command to get the correct file structure. I updated the previous post to correct it.

good that you solved the devx.sfs trap (you missed my earlier post about installing it first) do the rest like this: 1) #mkdir -p /mnt/sdd1/usr/local/texlive creates directory structure on the stick 2)* open a ROX window (click on your USB stick) and navigate to the directory /mnt/sdd1/usr/local ope...

space for Latex Package

Ok I elaborate a bit further, since it seems not to be straitforward. I tested this on my current system. When you download the installer and run it you get a text menu. From there you can choose different types of install. The standart directory for installation is /usr/local/texlive. This can be p...

Hi RSH,
Topless looks very interesting, but it might be a bit overwhelming. Maybe it needs to sink a bit until people fully realize what you are sharing.
kind regards

gfortran is the GNU fortran compiler

The devx.sfs package really should have it. In case not, then here is a link to linux binaries:

Dear greengeek, I think there is no ready made R package for slackware or slacko. You can download the sourcecode and then compile it yourself. You cannot run the sourcecode. In a previous post I gave a short description, it is not hard to do but needs some work on the commandline. Of course your mi...

When I get a chance I will have a look at emil's work. Currently the project is available on github https://github.com/emilwidmann/Debian-light-builder I removed it from the boxen.math server, so the download links in my old posts don't work at the moment. Eventually I can reupload it. I want to ad...

Software on boxen.math.washington.edu/home/emil

The software repo ist up again. It is mostly stuff for older puppy versions.

So the download links in most of my old posts should work again.

Hi, I am sorry, no. For which puppy version if I may ask? If you dare to venture you could build your own. Download the latest R sources from CRAN servers, unpack them, read the docs, install the devx.sfs and then do something like cd R* ./configure --enable-shared-libs make new2dir make install thi...

library paths

Hi pabloabc, you could put the line export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib/libbla into a configuration file like /etc/profile or alternativly maybe /root/.bashrc so it is automatically added to the libary path when you start puppy. Or maybe you could also create a symlink to the blas libra...

Dear pabloabc, sorry my answer somehow didn't went through yesterday. My first suggestion is to try to install R from the Ubuntu repos using the puppy package manager with your current puppy version. then you could try to install the Rstudio binaries from their home page. Mixing different versions, ...
