Re: Calibre is portable linux
Johnnywinter is right, no pet or sfs is needed, it is a full working portable linux app. Just download a recent version, here is a direct link, unpack it and left-click calibre. That is all. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/calibre/0.9.7/calibre-0.9.7-i686.tar.bz2?r=http%3A%2F%2Fsourceforge...

Dialup Woes
For several years I used Puppy for dialup and it worked with about half of the winmodems and all the time with my external serial modems and last year with USB winmodems. Now all I can get 431 to even recognize is the USb winmodem but I can't connect.

Best Version Dial UP
As far as my experience I used 4.3 and Wary for dial up. You need to pay attention to the offerings and choose the version w/ the additional dialup modems. When it comes to dialup you have to realize the majority of modems are known as winmodems which means they are cheap telephone interfaces that d...

Re: It not just from Windows. ITS ABOUT REMOTE CONTROLLING PUPPY
Why not sit in front of Puppy and control Windows , assuming we need Windows at all? Can you give me a reason why you would want to use Windows at all ? If you were adding to a network with Windows already there would it not make infinitely more sense to use Linux to access the Internet instead of W...

Re: It not just from Windows. ITS ABOUT REMOTE CONTROLLING PUPPY
There are some flagrant views on this topic in Puppy. What we should be attempting to approach is methodology to control a/the X-Windows session of Puppy from another Linux PC just as if we were sitting at the Puppy PC itself. The technology to do this is NOT apparent or inherently provided in any ...

I know many of you know this but I had a nightmare trying to set up a Dell 1545 Laptop until I found out you need to pull the battery to clear the memory. After that it was a cinch!

Re: Remote control Puppy from Windows
You have it backwards. The proper set up is to control everything from puppy . That is the beauty of puppy, you can use a thin client {old computer found in trash} to control all your equipment

Code works-Printer does not
I ran the code but apparently when you remove the cartridges you might as well chunk them.
When I told it to clean it said the black cartridge was bad and the color non-existent.

Thanks and Question
I tried all the command line options and the best I ever did was get the gui to work for a minute and then crash. I tried your pet and voila! No worries.
do you know how to download the Lexmark controls? Cups will print test page but not clean cartridges.
Thanks again!

Dear Rasul : In the last 3 years 27 missionaries I support have been murdered in the Middle East from Libya to Iran. Islam
Rasul It is good to be polite and to respect the rights of others to have their beliefs but I have no reason to respect what you believe. We do not worship the same God so for me to respect your beliefs would be to deny my own. Jesus was not a Muslim prophet and neither was Moses, Islam did not exis...

Other Files-Upgrade Bios?
Hi:
Have you tried finding an updated bios? It is possible there is a new bios version that allows USB booting.
Also try copying the vmlinux and intrid files to the USB .
If all else fails try installing puplite or even 4.3
Hope this helped
