Thanks for your prompt reply glassparrot. I have tried to install the devx_431.sfs file and told puppy to load it at boot time but the system hangs when it tries to load that file. Nvidia drivers
After many installs, re-installs and fooling around, I have reached the conclusion that the xorg (vanilla) drivers work ok. There's no compiz-fusion but I can live with that. Thanks for all the help I received.

Thanks for your reply again Chris. I've been playing with this for long enough. A fresh install is probably in order. There's no important data on this system but I just hate re-installing without trying all the options available first. It's how I learn about things. Thanks again.

Hey again CatDude! I did as you suggested and changed the xorg.conf from nv to nvidia but when I try to restart X, it falls back to a command prompt.
