wakeAlarm has an update: wakeAlarm-0.06
This update addresses comments made by a few users. The coding was done about a year ago, but not announced. Oops! wakeAlarm for Puppy is an Xine media player script. The Xine visualizations run while sounds are played. [To grab a screenshot press the "t" key, otherwise all you'll get with...

Then why not just get them to download the original tarball from the original site? Not quite the same thing. The packages made are based on, and include the files from that source, but include small Puppy-specific additions and alterations. Also, both pet and sfs format is easier for the average u...

ps
ps. You and your data are not trapped in the VM. Access can be made three ways [edit] besides the email/sshfs over internet, as mentioned by nooby [/edit]. 1. Raw disk. Safe and effective in some situations, but not ususally your first choice. 2. RDP. Remote dektop protocol is suppoerted in VBox, so...

Wow 2010 Dec this is just some months ago I thought it was 2008 or something. Is Qemu that slow still and not fast like Vbox? Anyway I want to learn TCL the Roberts brainchild running it virtually on Lupu or Fluppy or some other Puppy. So is Vbox faster and more easy to use trying out small isos li...

Do not think this would be a good idea. You want to make the save file after Puppy has fully booted and all settings are good. At the first shutdown is when you are asked to make a save file. If you do not, it will be asked each time you boot until one is made. Yes, that about sums it up. You can m...

triminh, seems you wish each user to be offered the option to make a personal save file on their first run. You might try this: 1. Make a boot stanza for first-time boot. 2. Make other login options. 3. Set default boot option to first-run option. For example: default 1 color green/black yellow/grey...

TestDisk & PhotoRec for GNU Puppy Linux
Many times the user has ms-Recovery Console only on hard drive. Often, only a clean install option is offered on OEM discs. Without an msWin option one might run TestDisk in Puppy to save the drive. Recently put a copy of TestDisk on a Puppy to allow the user to recover some data. She had trouble ac...

grubconfig says it's read only. now what? All these wizards make my head spin... Conan was right--no wizards! magic bad. It looks as though you have at least two partitions on one HD: .. I had a fiddle with it, trying to run it from PLoP, but it just locks up - as thinking about it it would. I have been thinking about it and I have come to the conclusion that it is either never going to work or any workaround IS going to be dangerous using ONE stick. The reason for this being that ...

Let me explain what wakeAlarm does. 1. Looks to see that no other windows called wakeAlarm are running. This is to prevent crond from loading multiple copies of the alarm. 2. Checks to see whether user has speciifed an MRL. If not specified it uses the builtin music stream. This allows user to choos...

Re: Installing Linux puppy to HD

Portable VirtualBox leaves very little behind. It installs and removes the drivers and other traces (mostly) from host system. If you've not got administrative privileges you will need patience, and to use qemu. One can use raw disc access if one wishes to mount the puppies from actual boot as well ...

Very naive question. I have never used pschedule. So one tell it to wake up a certain time and then shut the computer down and it boots the same OS as one made the scedule in????? nooby, no question is too naive! Pschedule is like msWin's scheduled tasks except that I don't think it can wake your s...

Here are some of my TEENpup boot experiences. Runs from CD very well. Runs in VBox (Raw disc access) from within msWin. Also boots from grub4dos at machine startup. Using swap drive in VBox (2GB) and a swapfile (100KB) for actual-box. Running msWin in ntfs partiton and GNU/linux on ext3 partition. I...
