6.0.6 update

606 was announced in February 8, as a fairly minor update to 6053. The ISO has been copied from the testing subdirectory on Ibiblio but nothing has been announced officially, nearly 7 months later.

Some people have apparently been using it.

What is it's status now?

Phone USB connection

The storage device desktop icons are one of the really convenient things about Puppy. When you plug in a USB drive the quick appearance of an appropriate icon is far better than the windows way and much faster too. However, when I plug in my Motorola Moto G2, running Marshmallow using a usb cable an...

Lucid on T400

Walter and Rerwin, I have never succeeded in getting Sulu4 to run on my T400 laptop or my similar-vintage HP-Compaq desktop. Conversely, I've never had any real difficulty with manual- frugal installs of Sulu2 with either machine, firstboot always comes up properly with the correct resolution. Why w...

Rfkill not the problem

Thank you for responding Rerwin. It was good advice to check with rfkill list. It seems that rfkill is fine. What I have REALLY observed is that although both Tahr64 and Sulu2 use SNS on this laptop, they are different versions and behave quite differently. The Tahr SNS has a prettier GUI, presumabl...

Somethibg most strange here!

I have two puppies on my Lenovo Thinkpad T400, Tahr64-6.0.5.3 and Sulu2 2016-12.07. To save the aging battery, I wrote a couple of scripts to toggle wlab and bluetooth on and off. In Tahr, both scripts work fine. In Sulu2, the bluetooth script works but the wlan script can turn the wlan off but fail...

Link still broken

Hi Rerwin, The link that you have just posted is a general discussion of packages in puppy. It has a link within it that is supposed to go to a more detailed description of the PPM but, unfortunately, it just 404s. Tahrpup 64-6.0.5.3 has this documentation loaded internally now. 6.0.5 suffers from t...

PPM Introduction

In 6053, clicking on the button for the PPM Introduction that is in the Install Applications panel simply takes you to the Tahrpup64 jumping-off page. This is not all that helpful. Would it be better to go to the Howto for the PPM? file:///usr/local/petget/help.htm I would also like to suggest that ...

Sulu2 2016 beta version 1216

when booting pfix=ram, clicking on the desktop "install" icon, then clicking the button for the PPM introduction webpage takes me to the same browser chooser panel that you get initially when you click the desktop "browse" icon. This seems wrong. I had a directory set up to run v...

PPM change

The Package Manager has changed from the 2015 version. The new one was very confusing to me. Both initially and after updating every repository, no pets were showing. Searching did result in a few showing up in the panel. It was only after several reboots that the pets showed up. The old one was pre...

64-6053 Palemoon

Testing with a save folder made by 6053. I don't need to hit return to upgrade every boot, as happens when I try to use an "updated" 605 save folder. Palemoon is now version 27.0.3. The problem of GoogleMaps restricting me to Lite mode has now been fixed. In three different installations o...

Snail,
I suggest that you wait for my next release. Even then, be sure to try with a copy of your folder (or keep a backup of the folder) just to be safe.
Thanks, will do.

64-6053 pfix=ram

Booted as above. WIFi connected using SNS no problem. Posting from it now. Sound works but very faint with the default settings. The desktop "file" icon is good.

Freeze on booting 6053

I decided to reboot 64-6053 to test sound. The boot froze after the message "booting kernel". I had to hard power-off. This has never happened to me before with this set-up.

I tried booting again and it worked, although i still have to hit ENTER to upgrade.

Sound works by the way. :D

First Look 64053

I downloaded the ISO only. MD5sum OK. I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad T400 Laptop, with no HDD, running from USB2 flash stick. I created a /Tahr64-6053/ directory and copied my existing tahr64save FOLDER to it. I copied initrd, vmlinuz, puppy_tahr64_6.0.5.3.sfs, the zdrv and tahr.png from the mounted 6...

Sulu2 2016 beta

This seems to be fine on my T400 laptop. Haven't tried a lot with so far though.

Can I use my savefolder for the last 2015 version with this one?

touchpad setting make persistant

I copied Lucid's script, "load-touchpad-settings" in ~/Startup/ to theTaht64 ~/Startup/ directory and that works fine as well. It's a smarter solution than my simple hack.

Touch pad and Pale Moon issues

Thanks Phil, I have "fixed" my touch pad issue. However, I also have Lupu Sulu2 2016 beta loaded on this laptop and in that puppy I have no problem with the touch pad setting persisting over reboots. any idea why? I noticed thar Sulu2 has a one-line script "load-touchpad-settings"...

Google Maps

Hi bigpup, I just checked. I have Intel Mobile 4. Presumably that means no 3D imagery? However, it does not mean I have to be stuck in Lite mode. On this T400 laptop, in Lupu Sulu 2/Seamonkey, I can access Google Maps in normal mode and can drag routes around, which is not available in Lite mode. Si...
