checking hard drive sectors/verifying a drive has been wiped
Hi guys, I had a quick question - I'm working as an Intern at this company and they want me to verify that the disk has really been wiped on a few computers so they have proof it was working. Is there something in puppy or in linux I could use to check the sectors and see if the drive is "clean...

Puppy and the Asus EEE Pc?
Hey guys...I ended up breaking my little lappy while trying to install a soild state drive. Whoops! Anyway, was scrounging ebay for replacements when I found out about the EEE PC by Asus(coming out soon). Wow! Very cheap, 200 dollars or so, a competitor to the OLPC project. And it has flash memory -...

Get SMC USB wireless EZ connect SMC2662W working!
I work at a chocolate/coffee shop and my boss expressed interest in putting out an older computer for those without laptops to browse while drinking coffee. I told him I could set up Puppy for him and he seemed excited! One problem though - I need to get some sort of "gadget" (as he calls ...

tempestuous, I am pretty sure I did all that, and I also checked ifconfig -a as well as the network wizard. I was trying to do stuff like ifconfig eth0 up too but it said that it couldn't find the interface. The only thing I maybe did not do was put the module in that exact place. I wasn't sure wher...

Wasnt sure what folder to put it in, so I put it in a bunch of folders and kept trying to reboot...when that didnt work I did depmod -a and then it finally saw the dm9601 module. I tried modprobing it but still no interfaces are coming up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? The readme file is old a...

Wait! I think I found a driver for the 2.6 Kernel after looking for the chipset of the device:
http://www.davicom.com.tw/big5/download ... 01-2.6.tgz
Can anyone compile that for me?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I tried modprobe usbnet and then modprobe asix (as well as keying them into network wizard) as I saw in other posts but no new network interfaces showed up in network wizard. If the entry in the Usbview program is red, does that mean the unit is malfunctioning? It does &qu...

Would someone compile the ShanTou ST268 USB LAN driver?
Hi guys. I recently bought a cheapo usb LAN dongle knowing very well that it may not work on Linux. I tried Ndiswrapper and it loaded but gave some errors similar to this (http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1167529650). However I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a Li...

violetdream, No, sorry, I won't be updating these drivers. As I mentioned in an earlier post on July 29 in this thread, they remain useful as a reference for people who compile their own drives in the future. By unzipping these dotpups, you can often find extra firmware files and utilities not incl...

Well, I don't think the registry is completely broken, because I've installed and run a program semi-successfully which requires correct registry entries. I just found a link where an Ubuntu user is having similar problems with all versions of wine since 0.9.17, just like we have! http://www.forbidd...

Actually I was typing it in from the screen since I didn't have an internet connection on my Puppy PC at the time. I did see that you solved it - good for you. Installing the drive_c dotpup or going through the debugger once it asks you both seem like solutions for now. Are people having any trouble...
