Hello 01micko, Thanks for your reply and all the information therein. based on it I've got a little further. Regarding problems with Firefox on the 3B, I haven't had too many, but my testing has been limited. I tested a few youtube videos and a few sites I visit regularly and that's about it. As for...

Use these instructions at your own risk CLI (is the preferred method) 1. Grab sdcard or micro-sdcard (whatever fits your pi) and make 2 partitions, the first FAT32 of size 512MB, The second fills the rest of the card. Format that to ext2, ext3, ext4, f2fs, whichever. 2. Mount (as root, or sudo for ...

Re: BusterDog ISO's updated, 2020-06-29

for a frugal install, most changes can be done by upgrading/installing packages in older BusterDog version and upgrade the kernel to v4.19.0-9 by adding/replacing in the frugal "live" folder with the contents of these tar.gz archives: 64-bit: https://github.com/DebianDog/BusterDog/release...

Hi keniv, seems all good to me, yes you can delete the .bak files but if you really want to be sure that the (old) changes are incorporated in the new 01-filesystem.squashfs you can boot without changes (without the changes=/... part at the boot command line) to see if it contains the changes you m...

Hi Fred, Thanks for your reply and the information. From what you said I am assuming I could do this again but this time chose xz compression to get smaller files. I might try this but at the moment I'm quite happy with what I've got and I think I'll stick with it for a bit. I did notice when I shut...

Thanks for the explanation Fred. As usual, when things don't work, I thought it was something I'd done wrong so I'm glad to know it wasn't me. I'll try it again when quick-remaster gets to v 1.2.3.

Ken.

Hi keniv, quick-remaster doesn't copy the filesystem first, so it doesn't take much space (compared to a remaster program that does copy first), how big depends on if you choose to make a backup of your save file and the type of compression used to create remaster, but I think, let's say 3GB + 3GB ...

EDIT: @keniv, using 'quick-remaster' is very easy and fast, it creates a backup of the main 01-filesystem.squashfs and (if chosen) creates backup of save storage. Install latest version from synaptic or with apt. Fred Hi Fred, How big a drive would I need to try this? I have a 60GB ide HDD from an ...

@enrique If you do a Remaster. Then most of the installed libraries currently store at change.dat will move to 01-filesystem.squashfs. This process save space as you see. I've never tried a remaster. The most ambitious thing I've done is to change a kernel. I think this was because a puppy I was usi...

@dancytron Did as you suggested above and I now have a 3GB save file which appears to be working ( I upgraded BusterDog. The upgrade included Palemoon which now shows as 28.10 ). I'll keep the backup of the 1GB changes.dat file until I'm sure everything is definitely OK. I guess the noauto from=/Bus...

Well I've installed it in a slightly updated version of Racy 5.5.1 on a very old Toshiba laptop and it appears to work OK. My typing ,like my laptop, is very slow and I've never tried to touch type. However, in lockdown just now so I thought I'd give it a try. I think I'm probably to old to learn to...
