Great sounding product
Hi Jody, This sounds like a wonderful project that would help me with the computer lab at my church. I work in IT (Networking/PC support) so I was asked to take over a computer lab running windows 98 and XP machines with very old hardware. I was also asked to teach Sunday School for a rotating class...

Project update
After a couple of months of testing I wanted to post an update on the screen configuration and the scope of this project. I have been using my upside down laptop now for months and it either meets or exceeds what I had hoped for (Streaming music, watching youtube, checking email, by default have the...

Thanks Ray
Thanks Ray, I am glad you gave it a try and you like it. Kitchenpup, as many other derivatives , was built on what others knew how to do better then I did. They deserve the real credit. I am just glad to hear any feedback on it as I was beginning to believe that no one had really tried it out. Speak...

Thanks russoodle
russoodle,
Thank you very much for mirroring Kitchenpup. It may be the most niche market pupplet that I have personally seen as yet but I hope that it can be useful to those who do give it a go.
Thanks again

Kitchenpup Beta
Hello and welcome to Kitchenpup. Kitchenpup is based another pupplet: Turbopup Xtreme 1.0 which is based on Puppy Linux 4.2. Kitchenpup's primary goal is kitchen computing with upside down laptops in mind. This is a Beta so any and all feedback is really appreciated. First I would like to thank Barr...

Re: Invert Display and Mouse
Disciple, Thank you for your quick reply. I have tried this but to no avail. Should I place a # before the line. Forgive my ignorance; I have a good hardware and networking back round but I am still very new to scripts. I have also tried installing NOP and turning the interface from the XFCE setup p...

Invert Mouse Axis and Display
Hi all, I am attempting to modify my startup to rotate the screen and mouse access. I have a laptop mounted upside down in my kitchen so I can use it for recipes and streaming music. It's a Howard laptop rocking 128 mb ram (with 14 mb ram shared for video) and a 900 Mhz processor. I currently have T...

Thanks
ICPUG, Thanks for your help finding it. I'm downloading a copy now of one of the older versions. I am currently working on a puplet in between classes and I would like to use good community contributions were I can for what I can. If nothing else I would like to test drive Oxygen Office and compare ...

Cannot download
Ecomoney, Thank you for your work on this project. It sounds very nice and I look forward to trying it. Sadly both links are broken. Is there a way to get this added to the puppy repository? I have seen the old links for previous versions of Oxygen Office and those tend to be broken as well. Does an...

Sorry I have taken a while to get back with you
Sorry that it has taken so long to get back with you. How did cleaning out the computer work? Was your particular battery recalled? You can get to frequency scaling by clicking on: menu, utility, CPU frequency scaling which is the very top option. Good luck
Pupplet downloads
Hi Gadabout, You can find Tipsy at on the puplet download page. The page it is on is here: http://www.puppylinux.org/?q=downloads/puplets&page=2 . Also http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1670847268&t=38742 has the description. I was a big time distribution hopper before I f...

Raffy hit the nail on the head/You get a new battery
Raffy hit the nail on the head when he advised you to try and get to the CPU scaling menu. Like you said Vista is throttling your CPU to keep your computer going. I came across your CPU specifications and 95 C is your maximum operating temperature so its no wonder you keep getting shut down. Softwar...

Nice puplet
Grumpywolfe,
I finally got a chance to pop your puplet into VirtualBox and have to say I like it. Everything worked out of the box, desktop is de-cluttered, and I appreciate addition of bcrypt. Nice work

Congradulations
Grumpywolfe, First off congratulations on creating your first Puplet. I am looking forward to trying my hand at that here soon as well. I have a few questions: 1. What lead you to do it? Was there some specific capability you wanted, cosmetic or otherwise, that you wanted to add or remove? 2. What v...

Fair enough
Fair enough Laptopkiller :) It really can be a pain to work on the inside of a laptop. I would say stop on into your local PC store or get with the manufacture and see about getting it fixed. Most local PC shops do not like to mess with laptops (At least from my experience) so the manufacture would ...

The over heating (From a hardware guys point of view)
I salvage old laptops and you might be surprised how often these problems can come up. You may have a computer that the thermal grease has dried up on. Before taking your computer apart I would download something like CPU cool or Serious Samurize to your laptop and check your temperatures in Windows...

Unusual Uses
Well there's a lot of "Vanilla" computer use that I do but I am also an IT student and I do networking in the ANG. I have been using different computers to study for my Security + exam. I know that I can just study the book but I like being able to put my little network together and actual...

Drivers issues
First off let me say that I love the idea behind this puplet and all the work that has went into it already. I am a hardware/networking guy who's main hobby is fixing up old computers for different groups (church, friends, family, and possibly a charity in the area here soon :D ). If I had more soft...

Teenpup use
John, Thank you for all your hard work on this pupplet. I like having it on a thumb drive to show off how easy Linux can be to a typical windows user and while there are other derivatives and pupplets that are good at this I really appreciate the side icon bar. The whole UI has been very thoughtfull...
