I have the firey fox icon again
Thank you everyone! Though I feel a bit stupid now for not finding that line in the menu earlier...

Change an icon?
Thanks to good guides in the forum, primarily from DaveS and ttuuxx (did I spell that right?) I was able to get Firefox and a few extra fonts installed on my Puppy. I got almost everything set up the way I want it, and I edited the options for the browse icon so it will point to /root/firefox/firefo...

At my job, walking into the stock room, test lab, or shipping department without wearing proper ESD gear and without taking the proper precautions leads to immediate disciplinary action and at your second offense you're fired.. nylon carpets The lab, stock room and shipping departments all have a w...

2) I've killed lots of hard-drives and mobos - or at least hastened their deaths - thinking ESD was some sort of superstitious nonsense sprouted by commercial interests that wanted to keep repair and upgrade work away from us backyard boys. Perhaps it is mumbo-jumbo, but better to be safe than sorr...

Re: Puppy's jumping-off page
I think you may have missed my point. I was responding to the comment that having funny icons linking to lots of sub-pages can confuse a newcomer that doesn't know what the icons mean. Labeling the icons, i.e. giving them obvious names, would make it less confusing for someone who is trying to figu...

Re: Puppy's jumping-off page
IMHO the use of lots of funny icons linking to lots of subpages is much more confusing than helpful to the newcomer - and me - and the alternative 4-series starter page although a splendid job may actually have raised the bewilderment level. That's easily solved just by labeling the icons... ;) The...

Right, and my 4.3 did. When I boot from CD it tells me right before shutdown that saves have already been made. I don't remember the exact message, but the general gist of it seems to be that since the pupsave file was used while I was in Puppy, it was automatically saved when I told Puppy to shut d...

Their build quality is awful now, and their software stinks....now you have several reasons to avoid thier products :D ...and that is being serious....been stung too many times by that company. DirectX and the closest we can come to a standard platform makes PC gaming both possible and easier, and ...

Actually I'm posting for the benefit of anyone else who wants to get sorted ... I'm surprised you bothered with puppy which took you much effort. But Puppy is a fascinating new toy to play with and learn from. :) Messing with IE on the other hand... that just sounds boring. :P By now you're hopeful...

This is one of those issues where the amount of work to put in seems a bit disproportionate to the need for doing it... :P I lock my house at night, and where I live that keeps me safe. Three big dogs, six guns, and a home security system wouldn't make me any more safe than I already am, it would on...

I believe the installer no longer installs grub for a frugal install but don't quote me on that...if so it would have to be run separately and probably have to create the menu.lst manually. When I did my frugal install I had to install Grub separately, and though it did create the menu.lst file I h...

KittyCat...Internet explorer is running the whole time windows is running..that's why removing it properly is the only safe option...simply using another browser is not enough. The plus side is that in doing so you can remove all that anti spyware crap too and end up with a machine that runs 3 time...
