Touch Screen
It's an Android, and I'm slowly getting used to the differences. Holding still for a second brings out a context menu, but not menus I see generally. I suspect that everything I need to do is doable, though.

Context Menu
No, none of the proposed solutions worked, but I discovered that holding my finger on the word or icon raised a context menu (not however, the ones I'm used to with Linux OS's). Thanks again.

Thanks to all who replied. Puppy remains the friendliest, most helpful forum for Linux.

How to Right Click with a touch screen or touchpad?
Can anyone tell me how to execute a right click to expose a context menu with a touchpad? I have a tablet (RCA Viking); the dumb Assistant (help) tell me to right click, but I don't have a mouse.

Ethernet, but no Internet connection in X-Slacko
I'm running the most recent X-Slaco on a Dell Optiplex GX520 (I have run many Puppy versions of this machine). It boots up fine and the setup tells me I have an ethernet connection, but I can't access any site. What am I doing wrong?

This iso Doesn't Boot for Me
Like TiredPup I "dd-ed" the iso to a thumb drive, and no boot. I understand this is a beta, but I'm adding my experience so you won't think it's peculiar to one user.

No YouTube sound in Puppy 8
Puppy 8 is a nice one, but I can't get sound on Youtube. Sound works well on videos I have saved to my HD.

Thanks to you
Thanks, Mike Walsh. It's Olean, a Russian distro that looks interesting for a number of reasons. Maybe I can't get a GUI because there isn't one for the live mode.

Thanks, Bigpup. I know my question wasn't specific to Puppy, but I was sure I could count on this forum to respond. I'm glad to learn the failure wasn't necessarily due to my ignorance.

getting a GUI
This is not a specifically Puppy question, but as a perpetual newbie I hope some one will answer. Sometimes when I try to boot a new Linux distro I get a command line. How do I get into the GUI from there? I have tried "starts" and "xwin" with no success.

kpatience needs two libs. Where to find them?
I just installed the latest Slacko64 and tried to install kpatience from the Slacko repository. It seemed to go well, but the installation reported two libs missing: libdbusmenu-qt.so.2 and libvisual-0.4.so.0. KPatience shows up in the menu but doesn't start. Where can I get the missing files? They ...

How to ditch persistent popup when I open Firefox? (Solved)
I just did a frugal install of LXPup. Very nice, but whenever I open Firefox a window inviting me to install an anonymizer (free for 30 days!). How can I get rid of it?

That was a very quick response. Thanks. This proves once again that Puppy users have the best response and best help of any distro.
My problem was only stupidity. That can't get any better, but sometimes by fumbling around I hit a solution.

SOLVED--No Sound on Slacko64 6.3.0
I can't get the sound to work. I have used many Puppies, from way back, and the sound has always worked. I have a common Intel sound card.
I played around with Retrovol and lo! I have the sound. Some elements just weren't turned up.

CUPS Printing
Everything is beautiful with Slacko64, except i can't set up my printer on a wired LAN (Windows 10 server). Other distros allow the insertion of a username and password to get into the server, but this Puppy doesn't. Is there a syntax to add them to the setup at the CUPS site?

Accessing Remote Printer
I'm using Slacko 6.3.0 now, and everything works fine except for the printer. I'm wired to a Windows 10 server, that requires an ID and pw for entry. When I try to set up a CUPS connection, I don't know how to supply this information. Is it on the SAMBA line (smb://computer/printer) line? If so, wha...

Accessing Network Files-- SOLVED
Kust OS is a great addition to the Puppy family. I'm using it with pleasure. I have one annoyance. All my documents are on a Windows computer on a wired network. I can get to them easily with Kust OS, but the access is very slow; for example, it takes 6-7 minutes to get a folder with several hundred...
