failure to boot all the way

Hi Sage,

Boot failed for me with an error about a file being unreadable with another version on USB stick. The drive had mounted fine just after I dd'd it but afterwards wouldn't mount at all. "You picked a fine time to fail me Lexar."

Have you tried another USB stick or optical disk?

urxvt aborts

OscarTalks, In EasyOS 218 urxvt would randomly abort on my PC. Instantly or after minutes. While resizing or in the background. While hosting alsamixer or htop or nothing. I haven't tried it on another PC. I installed rxvt-unicode_9.22-6_amd64.deb from https://packages.debian.org/buster/rxvt-unicode...

xvkbd

Barry, After selecting a foreign lang in xvkbd, the virtual keyboard, a virtual key appears with the lang name on it eg Rus. After setting focus to leafpad (which is fine with Russian) and clicking a letter, the wrong letter is printed and xvkbd immediately reverts back to English. Also, thereafter ...

Barry,

Why don't you sign your uploads and host the signing key elsewhere?

Barry,

Reading the initrd from the 1.0.92 iso in scite or textadept.

line 1212 omits the word 'be':-
Choose the closest match, there will BE an opportunity to fine-tune

Line 8859 does not.

Barry,

Some obs from brief test of 1.0.92 ISO booted from USB stick.

There's a word missing in the middle line of the select keyboard instructions before desktop starts.

leafpad 0.8.15 allows only 1 search term. "Find next" works but I had to restart leafpad to use another term.

williams2 thanks for the right click trick. Who would have thought -- everyone but me! I like sakura. For urxvt you missed the insert key but now I'm back in xerus I find it doesn't work in either emulator. I only tried it because it's in the 2x3 group. I doubt I've ever used it. I'm not a fan of ke...

urxvt ctrl keys and reverse video

Thanks williams2 so that's how it's done. I sorely missed those 2 keys and tab and others in the 2x3 block between rtn and num pad. I fixed some by (reading then) editing .Xdefaults (via urxvtcontrol in the menu). Do you know how to fix the others? Also, I prefer elinks for some pages and white text...

Barry, ***Edit: Sorry: HTML directory index works but no sfs found by sfsget.*** I get the same result from ldd. However, Hiawatha serves the dir index as xml even though I have 'UseXSLT = yes' in the config file and index.xslt in /root/Web-Server/. The manual says 'requires that Hiawatha was compil...

Hiawatha with HTML directory index MY ERROR IT WORKS

Barry,

Could you compile Hiawatha with xslt support. This would allow it to produce the directory index in HTML. Then it would be compatible with sfsget.

Edit: Sorry: HTML directory index works but no sfs found by sfsget.

Thanks

MPlayer pet please?

Barry, Xine got me in the end. I started a video and clicked the X icon to close the window. Then repeated that before remembering that Xine can't be killed via the X icon. X was unable to make a new window so time to reboot. Ctrl-alt-backspace (to close X) might have worked but that's disabled. Ple...

Printing works

Barry, I have used Libre Office Write for the first time in a Quirky and I expected it to kill my live-flash in 2GB of RAM. But it was only very slightly sluggish and it even printed (and without the leading blank line that was guaranteed by Abiword). And when I asked it to do too much the offending...

The SNS window that has, in the bottom right, the buttons to connect (in my case eth0 and usb0 (a 3G dongle)) also lists previous profiles. There were 3 profiles for usb0; each cdc_ether and each with different hardware addresses. I had probably used usb0 3 times. On earlier Quirkys there was just o...

Barry, I tried a few of your release since werewolf x86_64_7.3.3 but found they would freeze after a few hours or even minutes. I'm hoping that's fixed with the change to aufs. I booted Quirky Xerus 8.1.94 x86_64 from the iso on a flash drive (live-flash you could say). I installed mupdf, elinks, fi...

rcrsn51, Firstly, I read on another post of some years past that one could make the change to /etc/pwf/interaces that you suggest and it would work but it doesn't. Secondly, this was with PeasyWifi either v3.4 or v3.6 whichever I thought was current at the time of the post. Your first reply was very...
