OK that was odd to say the least. I had to get rid of Puppy from my hard drive. I'm sorry for thinking it, whatever it was came from here because looking back on it I just dont see how that could happen. I've been running Puppy for about a year now and this is the first time anything like this has h...

Thanks Bruce. Yea I know I have no proxy, I don't need one. I do however use JAP in Windows because let's face it, Windows is Windows. :) Here I just post because I need not worry about bugs.

And BTW, if you need a key just send me a message. 8)

Ed, you under-estimate me and the power of the hosts file. Let me give you an example, the hosts file is powerful enough blocking utility that it prevented computers from phoning home to Microsoft. Microsoft wanting those phone calls actually had to rewrite a portion of their OS to make sure that i...

I hate Ubuntu. No dialup modem support, not support at all. Puppy is much better.

Bruce I think your response is spot on but will not help next week when Google ups the bar.

I gave up on blocking Google because they are ruthless in their ways.

I'll leave this alone now and good night.

EDfromHouston Is there no escape from Google. I made scroogle my home page and google did not show up until I went to Puppy forum or anywhere else. There must be a way to shutout Google. Well I dont know. Google is the devil in a lot of ways  I don't know enough to answer your question bec...

MPlayer or Puppy 2.14 Memory Leak With Streaming ASF Audio?

I'm not quite sure what this is, but using Seamonkey or for that matter Firefox2.0.0.2 to stream .asf audio from www.wtaw.com it will work for about 2 hours and then my dialup connection will stop streaming. I am still connected and can surf the web at this point but when I reopen wtaw to restart th...

Well If you want to stop Webmasters from tracking your posts in blogs and the pages you visit through Google and you use Firefox you could install AdblockPlus and block www.google-analytics.com/* Also https://ssl.google-analytics.com/* I just read this: ..."step 4 should be revised to http://*....

You can change it this way. I use the Linthered Double theme. I clicked on the eye to show all files and in the root folder went down and opened the ~/.icewm/themes/Linthered-1.2.1.4-double-1.1/default.theme file as text by right clicking open as text. I increased the font sizes, made the clock 16pt...

What I said was ACPI standard is not followed by XP because Microsoft is not strict when applying the ACPI standard meaning a lot of computers' processor fans work with XP and not with Linux because Linux complies to the standard the way it should. However, this post is about your problem. Ho...

Ok Jason try this, Open your file search program in Muppy and type in your key word kppp. Copy all the files related to Muppy to Puppy from a disk or usb stick. I know it can be difficult but you may have to open each file to get it right. On a personal note I would like to say I'm sorry if you read...

Well although a VERY limited question, it is a good one.

I thought ATI was limited to 720. I also thought nVidia was not much further ahead with linux.

Well if it is puppy 2.14 then it should be ext2. Also 400mb of swap seems too much to me when you only have 40mb of ram, 100 to maybe 150 would work better I think. Too much could burn up your old hard drive. I'd change that first IMO.

I'm sorry if I stuck my foot in my mouth

I thought the way I said was the way it worked. I guess maybe it would be a good idea to listen more and keep my mouth shut as my ole pappy used to say.

I edited to fix my mistake as pointed out below As Guest Too has said above root (hd1,0) is hdb1 not hdc1. I have one hard drive which is hda. If I were to have two hard drives they would be hda, and hdb. A basic computer can have up to four haed drives: if installed they would be hda, hdb, hdc, an...
