I really like my older versions but I figured I would need to upgrade. it would just be nice to have a fix for my older ones. do you have any suggestions for a newer puppy? i want to run it as a live disk for the most part and I'd like one that can handle the settings for my system without having to...

Screen too wide for resolution choices in Puppy 4.2
Hi!
I have a Campaq Presarion CQ60 notebook PC.
3 gigs RAM 32 bit
The screen is quite wide and when I've loaded my Puppies which are older
Puppy 4.2 and Macpup Foxy
they are not capable of the proper resolution.
Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?
Thanks

Tor Browser Bundle
*edit* Dammit! I did a search and found nothing but as I was browsing I found a thread dealing with Tor. I still need however, advice on the best puppy to run it on as well as video, wine, and so on. Thanks! I've been away from Puppy for a while but am getting back into it. I tried installing Tor on...

I'm leaning toward hardware too. I don't have internet at home so it's not a browser issue. As far as cleaning, it's a notebook (I'll give all the specs tomorrow as I am not at my puter now. I have the schematics from HP but it's going to be a chore to clean some of it. This is what I know atm. HP P...

Thanks guys. That helps. The reason I want to turn it off is because I think it's causing possibly a heap corruption and I wanted to try it without to see if the random X crashes would stop. I really don't understand all the technical stuff (I'm more of a looks tweaker) so I wanted to be sure before...

Do I even need a screensaver?
I read somewhere that a screensaver isn't really nessecary these days. My puter is about 10 years old. Does anyone know if it's needed?

Xserver randomly restarts or freezes
My xserver will sometimes randomly restart and sometimes , but not near as often, freezes.
These are relatively new developements.
I don't want to go replacing stuff until I have some idea of where to go to diagnose the problem.
What should I check first?

Restarting X server repeatedly harmful?
I am curious, does restarting the X server multiple times do any harm to the system? I have to do this fairly often sometimes (I think it's a video card issue) and was wondering if I was hurting anything.

Start an .exe in Mediapup-rxvt
Hi, I was playing some Tomb Raider levels in Puppy 4.2.1 by opening rxvt and typing "start tomb3.exe" and the game would open right up. I switched to Mediapup 4.1 and now I can't seem to find the corresponding command in rxvt to launch the game. I cannot find a satisfactory list of rxvt co...

Sorry, I've been away. The problems persist. My opinion is that maybe the install is mildly corrupted? Nothing new has developed. The system works well for the most part. That's why I love Puppy so much. I think I will try a fresh install. My next question is if I do, can i leave my save file...

I don't use grub. I just boot from the flash drive but I need the disk in the drive. It's always been that way and I haven't had any problems before. I used puppy pfix=fsck with no help. I make it a habit to run fsck at least once a week. I havn't changed any settings in xarchiver since I've been us...
