4. Update web browser??? (the latest firefox-35.0 is about 30mb bigger (unpacked) than the builtin 24.6.0-ESR which will add close to 15mb to the ISO) Hi guys; a lurking presently-Carolina user here. :) I've a couple of views/suggestions that I've been wanting to share for a while now regarding the...

Re: subtitle encoding problem
Welcome, blast beat :) I guess you're trying to use subtitle text files? Your system may be using other encoding than CP1250, perhaps UTF/Unicode, or whatever you chose on your initial QuickSetup as your country settings, and so the media player apps (and the rest) probably orient themselves by &...

Dear Barry Kauler - if you're reading this (hopefully do) - Thank you for all your hard work on Puppy, and thanks for creating it, in the first place! I may have been among the ones who tend to complain, more often that not (and sometimes I misword things or express myself improperly, but I'm among ...

Hi guys Unfortunately, I can report the same problem(s), plus some more: - the (Gnome) Mplayer doesn't play anything for me, either; not mp4, flv, avi, nor mp3. The machine is a P4 lappy. - on a P3 lappy the X/Xfce won't even start, reporting the same as mentioned by some of you guys. - (only) on XS...

Hi inoxidable I just downloaded the package from there, extracted it to someplace and clicked the firefox script that's in there. This is how I install/keep my Firefox, I don't auto-update it, so I'm not sure how 'safe' your regular way is, and yes, I am aware that starting with some certain FF vers...

Regarding the version numbering: why 001, and not 003, or is Lite so much different from the Carolina 003 ? The thing is, it tends to add to the confusion, especially for newcomers, as now you have 3 distros of the same kind (Saluki, Carolina, Lina Lite -??), which, IMO, all could/should have been o...

Re: Lazarus.sfs troubles
And also a question that's been kind of nagging me since the very beginning: what is SA-LUKI , anyway? What does it mean or stand for? The first association I get is "salivate". Anyhow, I kind of dislike it, but maybe that's just me. :) Saluki is a dawg. Google is a search engine. I'm sur...

Re: Saluki browser issues
Another annoyance: when installing new PETs (not very big ones), the savefile space fills up somewhat exponentially and only gets freed again to a more sane size upon reboot. I looked in /tmp but couldn't find anything "interesting". The same goes for adding SFSes ! This is new behaviour...

Re: Saluki browser issues
As of 019 I'm having the same problem with Lazarus-0.9.30.0-fpc-2.4.2.sfs . It worked fine in 018. Any ideas/suggestions? I don't see that version in the package manager, I tried lazarus-0.9.30.4RC2-0_fpc-2.6.0-0.sfs and it appears to be working So I need to download the newer one for this, then......

Re: Desktop look
I do not really know the real reason/logic behind the traditional puppy desktop look, but one value I see on it is to showcase what this "100MB" distro can do AOB! Having said that, I find it cumbersome, specially for small screens, since any window will cover almost everything. I also do...
