How to use Brother HL-L2320D & Python 3 in Bionic 8.0?
I've just started using Puppy again (Bionic 8.0) after a lapse of some years. I used Linux Mint 17.3, it still works but is no longer supported or updated, and I looked around for what to do next. Mint 19.2 didn't seem like such a big improvement, plus my wife wanted a Linux distro she could plug in...

MuseScore 2.0.3 has recently been released in a single-file AppImage for Linux (see https://musescore.org/en/download#Linux), which you can just make executable and run. It's supposed to work on almost any distribution. I haven't tried it on Puppy yet, but maybe you could.

WISH Music Time 2015
WISH Music Time is a simple countdown timer and music player for Linux and other Unix-type operating systems. You can use it to play a music file with a single click, or else set a time to play a file in the future (either manually or by way of a single-click "time line"). http://i300.phot...

Hello @Pa_McClamrock I would like to ask: Do you have a SWAP partition on your system's HDD? [ . . . ] Was it being used by your system during its boot and running? I do have a swap partition, and I also now have 4 GB RAM, not just 2. Apparently the swap partition isn't being used because the RAM i...

WISH File Rusher 2015 file manager
WISH File Rusher 2015 is a light, fast two-column file manager. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn23/pa_mcclamrock/wishrush_2015_zpsn8dhjycu.jpg It requires Tcl and Tk 8.5 or greater. (I write code in Tcl for some of the same reasons I speak English: I learned how to do it a long time ago; it wor...

Qt 5.4 and MuseScore 2.0.1
I want to be able to use MuseScore 2.0.1 (see http://www.musescore.org ) on Puppy. It requires Qt 5.4 (or at least 5.3). I'm running vividpup beta 2. I'd like to have a Qt 5.4 SFS that I could then use in compiling MuseScore. Compiling Qt 5.4 from source is beyond me. Is there an Ubuntu or Slackware...

Oops, I spoke a little too soon about everything working right. Last time I tried to open Pale Moon, my computer froze up and I had to shut down improperly. I restarted, waited several minutes for two filesystem checks, and now everything is back to normal. When I tried Tahrpup, I got repeated freez...

Update: I've been using vividpup every day now; everything seems to work fine except for pet2tgz (mentioned above), and my second optical drive doesn't always show up in the drive icons after a disc is inserted (the same thing used to happen with Slacko). The comparative bigness of the ISO is no pro...

Another question, and a comment. Question: Is there any prospect of putting Qt 5.3 or 5.4 into the devx, instead of Qt 4? Isn't it about time? Comment: Although I'm not too fond of LibreOffice, my wife often uses it on my computer when I'm not on it--and I'm pretty sure she'll be impressed to see ho...
