I have not been around the forum much but just checked in and saw my old posts and applications come up in this thread. To be honest, I have not gone beyond Puppy 1.0.8 for my Linux and music needs. I got all the applications I needed to run a stable, minimal Linux audio and MIDI setup on my old lap...

Re: MicroMuppy002

Toddyjoe, Ilook forward to an update on this! BTW, do you have wifi working? If so, what card are you using? MDG Sorry for the late follow-up: The trick I proposed above did not work. The 310ED simply does not like Xvesa. I started hacking an Xorg into the MicroMuppy002 and made some progress but h...

I had the same problem with my Thinkpad 310ED with this Micro Muppy until I did some workarounds with "xwin" as Mark recommends. I am working on getting 800x600x8 to work with Micro Muppy but it is taking some work as the 310ED does not play as well with Xvesa as it does with the bigger Xo...

I seem to recall some discussions not long ago about the choice of the X server for Grafpup, i.e., whether to stick with Xvesa only or incorporate Xorg as an option. Would I be correct in assuming this version is still Xvesa only? I have wanted to try Grafpup in the past but the older laptop I use f...

Mark, I just saw this thread after some time away from the forums. I tried doing exactly what you accomplished with Pico Pup a couple of months ago but became too frustrated trying to rebuild the minimal Pico Pup. Puppy 1.08 is still my favorite Puppy and perfect for my music applications so this sm...

I wonder if Puppy loads the proper module for that sound card? If you are talking about the Turtle Beach Montego II, I think you need "snd-au8830" for your sound module. If you go to the ALSA website, they explain how to load modules for specific soundcards from Turtle Beach and other manu...

I thought that was the whole purpose of Pico Pup or Pico Puppy, an old derivative version from about a year ago. It is 8 MB in size. Search the archives for Pico Pup or "micro pup" and hopefully you will find it. I downloaded it a couple of months back to try so it is still out there.

Did someone mention my name? :) When I wanted a low-latency Puppy for strictly audio and MIDI work, I recompiled the 2.4.29 kernel for Puppy 1.0.8rc1 with the Ingo patches. It worked fine and ended up with a kernel only slightly larger than the original. At the time, I read in several places that th...

Kenn, I am not sure how easy it is to mod/upgrade the Thinkpad 600. I had to sort through a lot of Japanese websites to find out how to mod/upgrade my Thinkpad 310ED from 133 MHz to 400 MHz and the RAM from 16MB up to 128 MB (which is well beyond the maximum RAM quoted in the IBM literature). For a ...

I made a dotpup for TkEca-Ecasound for Puppy some months back. Do a search and you will find the thread and the link to the download site. It works fine on my old Thinkpad 310ED (modded to 400 MHz and 128MB RAM).

Savefile.com has treated me pretty good for hosting over 40 dotpups now without an limits on uploads, downloads, bandwidth, etc. However, the website has been acting cranky off and on for the last week or so. This Sineshaper download issue has been the first big problem for me so far so maybe Savefi...

The file-hosting site is giving me problems trying to modify or delete the Sineshaper dotpup so I am e-mailing it to Mark. Hopefully Mark can mirror it on his site and people can stay clear of the Sineshaper link I provided until I can fix it. Sorry about any downloading problems!

I use debs and RPMs quite frequently with Puppy for different binaries and libraries. Sometimes they work, sometimes they do not, and sometimes they do ugly things to your base operating system. Fortunately, I have a testing computer where I run disposal versions of Puppy, meaning I delete the save ...

I will try to reload Sineshaper tonight after work and e-mail it to you as well. Sineshaper is nowhere near as large as Rosegarden so hopefully it will take a lot less time to download. Sorry about the size of Rosegarden!

Musician Dotpups Pt.5: Rosegarden4, Gmorgan & more

After a few weeks of work, here is another handful of dotpups for audio/music/home-recording applications. These were created with Puppy 1.0.8rc1 so that ALSA is already installed but all should work fine with the newer Puppy2 series. Each of the dotpups were tested on three computers (including a 4...

toveno, I could not get the Brazilian version of Puppy that you are using to work at all on my computer. I am not sure why but I end up getting getting "Kernel panic" warnings or the Brazilian version of Puppy fails to boot on the computer. Unfortunately, I cannot check to see if the OPL3-...

I picked Puppy Linux in early 2006 because I was new to Linux and wanted to find something small in size to run on my old, overclocked IBM Thinkpad laptop (400 MHz, 128MB RAM, 1.6GB hard drive, 3-1/2 floppy and CD-ROM drives). Puppy and Damn Small Linux were the best of the lot, and Puppy was easier...

That is the Brazilian version of Puppy 1.0.8, correct? I will download the "iso" file and try to get it work with my Thinkpad laptop and OPL3-SAx sound chip. I will report back in a day or so after I try it out to see if there is a problem.

I have an old Thinkpad laptop from 1997 that I upgraded to 128MB of RAM earlier this year from a lowly 16MB. Before the upgrade, I could not run any version of Puppy I tried from a Live CD. I would get the password prompt and that was it, even though I had log-in passwords disabled by a DIP switch o...
