HI, just started with fatdog 64 on a macbook pro, which I'm not very familiar with either. I was expecting to see the files in the mac, as I can in a pc when puppy is booted, however, I have sda1, which is a small drive containing just efi stuff, another sda3, which seems to contain apple recovery s...

Puppy 4.31, 5.2 CDs no hard drive icons on desktop (SOLVED)
I have a sony vaio laptop, with Windows Vista as the base operating system. Booting from puppy lucid 5.2 CD, I see no hard drive icons on the lower left of the desktop. I tried with a puppy 4.31, got the same result. An Ubuntu live CD boots up the vaio OK showing the hard drives. The puppy 5.2 syste...

dropbox on puppy 4.3
I followed the advice in http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=37850 but can't make it work in puppy 4.31. Billywho?'s pet installs OK, but icon sits there inert in the tray. I installed the icewm pet, but was not sure how to "switch window managers". I tried changing the /etc/w...

abiword doesn't add word in puppy 4.3/4.31--SOLVED
does anyone know how to make the change persist in 4.3? I mean, if you add a word, next time you type that word, in a new document, it still shows as an unknown word. (it works in puppy 4.2.) cheers puttingau OK, if you make text files called en_AU.dic and en_US.dic, create a directory /root/.enchan...

include network activity
I modified this to take into account network activity, when another user is accessing the internet through internet connection sharing. This script sits on the gateway machine, and won't shutdown if there is another user accessing the internet through it. Thanks to all on this post, and those on htt...

abiword slow startup
No, it's much worse. I have a 10-page .doc file that works fast in Abiword in 4.1.2. Abiword also looks fast in 4.3.1 until I open the same doc file. Then I can grab the scroll bar and try to scroll down through the doc. After about 15 or 20 seconds it finally moves. It's possible the grammar check...

Abiword
When you added a word in the spell check in previous versions, that word would be OK in the spell check when the document was next opened. This is not happening in 4.3. The file that held the added words in 4.2 was /root/.config/enchant/.en_AU.dic (or en_US.dic). Does any one know what file is appli...

Thanks for your reply, joggeri, but I had run that script, which creates the adapter0 and demux0 devices needed (as well as some others). I'm presently in Adelaide, and ran it again, same results with gxine, and same result with the scan program, using an Adelaide seed file. One thing I noticed when...

installing Leadtek WinFast DTV Dongle Gold in puppy 4.2
Hello all, I'm trying to get this tv dongle working in puppy 4.2, it works well in ubuntu hardy, and I've tried the same process I used in that distro. Steps so far: Compiled the v4l modules using the 2.6.25.16 kernel source, and placed the ones I know are needed (tda18271,af9013,dvb_usb_af9015,dvb_...
