Seamonkey 2.0.5 does not behave like 1.1.18 did
I hope I am in the right place here as my problem is touchpad related but not necessarily Puppy 5.1. My Acer Travelmate 6000 has a 4-way-scrollbutton beneath the touchpad (which works fine). In SeaMonkey 1.1.18 it scrolled up and down and the right and left scrollbuttons moved forward and back in th...

SeaMonkey 2.0.5 vs 1.1.18
I am using an Acer Travelmate 6000 Laptop which has a 4-way scroll-button under the touchpad. In SeaMonkey 1.1.18 the right and left motion moved forward or back in the page history. In Version 2.0 it does not do anything. (the up and down switch still works though) I experienced this behaviour usin...

Monitor resolution
Puppy looks very spread out on my new akoya notebook. the widescreen has a resolution of 1440x900 but the graphic card is not recognized to be able to cover this resolution. The tool to switch resolution only gives me access to lower values. This might of course be a problem, with puppy not recogniz...

error on loop 1 locks puppy
As my pup_save file was getting too large I decided to clone the USB-stick I boot from to a new larger one. The laptop I use has a defective PCI contrller so I cannot use CD-ROM or HDD. I had Puppy 4.2.1 on a 1GB Transcend stick but having the devx.sfs and trying out SeaMonkey 2.0b (since removed ag...

I/O errors
I was able to access the data on the HDD and copy them to another drive after installing the HDD in a desktop with an adapter. This and the fact that the same I/O errors occured when I tried to boot from CD make me suspect the onboard IDE controller is defective. A motherboard would cost > $400 the ...

Puppy saves my daughter's Acer Travelmate 6000 from the dump
Puppy rocks! My daughter's Laptop started producing Blue Screens of Death frequently. Looking into the matter I found heaps of I/O errors to the HDD. So I inserted a Puppy LiveCD and booted, but the same I/O errors came there :-( I installed Puppy 4.1.2 to an USB flash drive plugged it in and am hap...

Re: Grub
The system has to find the files necessary for booting. The bootloader (e.g.Grub) must be told where to find these files.

no CD no floppy no netboot i assume
hmm, did I miss it or hasn't anyone mentioned the initrd.gz?
perhaps starting with the options where to find the initrd could make a difference?
and is grub's root pointing to the right place?

Re: ssh
try opening a console (rxvt) type ssh xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx repace the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP address of the host you are trying to reach. If a ssh.demon is running (and configured to accept connections on port 22) the remote machine should offer you a login promt. Enter your username (the one you us...

RTFM carefully
Thank you dawnsboy! I had read the post but did not know which module to modprobe for my Pentium M processor. following your advice I reread it line by line :-/ acpi-cpufreq works (it might not be the most effective) and I had overlooked the fact that the path /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ w...

CPU scaling Puppy 4.2 v2 [~solved]
I decided to try and rescue my daughter's Acer Travelmate 6000 laptop after it had shown series of I/O errors on hda and hdc. I presume the IDE controller is defective. The laptop will boot nicely from a Transcend JF V30 1 GB USB-stick. I would like to keep the temperature down but the posts about C...
