I can't install libmspack.so.0 :( I couldn't find any pup file, and (again) I fail to compile from source. When I try ./compile, I get bash: ./configure: no such file or directory. I think this might be because there is no file called configure in the source, as there are in all the other sources I'...

I successfully installed WX widget, but afterwards it listed off about a dozen different dependencies that were missing, so I think this might be part of my problem. When I try to compile Audacity, it's starts compiling correctly then it stops and says, configure: error: "Could not find wx-conf...

alright, I have no idea how but somehow I managed to install devx. It took a few days but I finally did it. Now for my next problems. In order to install Audacity(audio recorder program) I need to install WXwidget, so I downloaded it's source code and unpackaged it. The instructions for installation...

I don't like this at all, this just completely unnatural. Sure at first they'll just alter babies predisposed to horribley painful physical illnesses. Then they'll gradually start using it on milder and milder illnessses. Then when half the population knows someone that's a testtube baby, it won't b...

Linux DAW for producing electronic music?

Are there any? I know there's Ardour, but that program's main(only?) focus is on recording, and from what my short experience with it, I don't think it'd be very easy for producing electronic music at all. Are there any Linux programs similar to FL Studios, or Reason, that are optimized for easy use...

Thanks for the ZSNES. Had no problem getting it set up, however it's working a bit buggy. The graphics and sound are very jumpy, constantly slowing down and speeding up. Has anyone else had problems with this? I have a laptop with a 1.8G single core processor and 1G of of RAM. On my old desktop I on...

:( I don't think I can do this. Are there any puplets that already have devx installed? I just installed puppy a few days ago and don't have anything to back up so it's no problem for me to format my harddrive and reinstall puppy.

So that would probably explain why I get "C compiler can not be located" (or something like that) when I try to ./configure. I tried to find the devx.420.sfs and I couldn't find it. I tried wondering aimlessly through all the directories, and searching for "devx" and got no resul...

How do I install software that came in tar.bz2 format?

I was able to extract the contents of the tar.bz2 file, but I don't what I'm supposed to do now. I know I have to do something with command lines but that's all. I couldn't find any guide on google that was simple enough to understand. The first time I ever even used a command line was to check the ...

I just upgraded to Puppy 4.2 today, although I had the same problem with 4.0. Most of the .sfs files are in initrd/mnt/dov_ro2 which is on hda1. and then there is one in initrd/mnt/dov_ro2/puppy400 and also one in ininitrd/mnt/dov_ro2/puppy420. Also, is the puppy400 directory even supposed to be lef...

Puppy says it saves, but it doesn't.

Whenever Puppy saves preferences, or anything else, it doesn't actually save anything, and when I start up Puppy again, it's as if I've started it for the first time. Puppy is frugal installed to my harddrive, and there are save files on the harddrive(about a dozen of them now) so I think puppy is s...
