Any feedback?

Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm having the same problem. Moreover, when I try to switch the orientation of a landscape file to portrait, Abiword crashes.

Yes, this post will have little relevance if SeaMonkey 2 becomes the default in Puppy. This post was originally written about a year ago on my blog, but I thought it would be more useful here.

How To Make SeaMonkey as Good as Firefox...if Not Better

SeaMonkey is a lightweight browser built on the Mozilla engine that will work in any other operating system as well. Firing it up will immediately take you back to the days of Netscape Navigator, but don't let the appearance fool you. SeaMonkey is every bit as capable as a modern browser and even ha...

The basic premise of this thread, that 4.3 was based on 4.1.2, is not correct, it is based on Woof, which had major changes from 4.1.2. Woof provides all the underlying infrastructure. Then there is the level of the packages, and as I already posted, they too underwent major upgrades. I knew that 4...

Re the calculators, the thing I find funniest is how bent out of shape they get people, considering how negligible they are. For me, it's not about the size but rather the menu clutter. I'd gotten used to "removing" them with PMenu and was glad to see them gone in 4.2. I just upgraded to ...

Now, now, let's not fuss. See, when I get to be prolific enough with Puppy Development (and masochistic enough), I'll take over as "BV" for 6.7 or whatever version, and you'll have 50 CALCULATORS! HAHAHAHA! You thought 5 was extravagant?!?! This thing'll need a Blu-Ray disc for all the da...

I rarely question Barrys decision of what he puts in an official distro. In my eyes he has the right to go back to dotmatrix style if he wants. This is his bag, and if it wasn't for his choices we would all be using something else. (oh the horror!) I suppose this is exactly my point. I thought he'd...

Personally, I'm just going to mentally append 4.3 with "Barry Edition" and wait to upgrade until the next "real" release. One final note: Developers of 4.4, please please just pick one calculator--maybe two. As with anyone who wants more "bling," we can roll our eyes a...

First of all, thanks to everyone for the thoughtful replies that have been added since Pizzasgood's message. This was the kind of discussion I had been looking for when I initially posted. To clarify one of my own comments, I recognize the distinction between 4.2 and a "Community Edition;"...

As for why he did this, I'm not sure. He did the same thing with 2.16 after we made 2.15CE. He was actually working on it in parallel with us, and some people felt pressured to release 2.15 sooner so that we wouldn't be holding him up. I don't blame him for that then. It was developed with the wron...

Barry has written, again and again, that 4.3 is all about perfecting the Woof buildsystem, not about perfecting the mix of applications. Fair enough, but if it was to be so application-neutral, why not base it on 4.2? Going back to 4.1 makes a pretty strong statement that 4.2 and its associated app...

pretty AND functional would be nice. Agreed, and in my opinion the best way to achieve both at the same time is to remove clutter, as it is neither pretty nor functional. I get the interest in providing choice, and I like having a couple ways of doing things available to me without an additional do...

The community editions may be very different However, 4.2 was not a community edition, even though it was developed by folks other than Barry. Let's move away from the "bling" vs "no bling" distinction. As I stated, that was not the intent of my original post, even though the wa...

And NO, 4.3.x is not built from 4.1 binaries, it includes the same applications in most cases, but updated. Also, 4.3 is not supposed to continue 4.2.x directly. Someone else on the bug fix forum described 4.3 as "recompiled" from 4.1. Regardless of how you want to qualify it technically,...

Barry incorporated and updated many features and updates in 4.2.1 into 4.3.1 What are the features carried over from 4.2 to 4.3 that are not just extensions or updates to what was already in 4.1? It seems to me more like the most recent version of everything in 4.1 made it into 4.3 with little refe...

Puppy 4.1.x and 4.3.x were developed by Barry in different standards than the community-built 4.2.x series. I get that. I'm asking why. Is there a reason for moving away from a community-built effort? The 4.2.x series had all the bling and (useless) eye candy that makes Puppy trash the old-hardware...
