hallos, 1) SMP (enabled in the kernel) 2) Wine 3) Virtualbox (as a working pet) 4) NVidia /Ati drivers (although thats already there for every release) end It would be bigger and it will most likely shock alot of people but it would be worth it =P Ow well.... if nothing changes i will live to LOL Gr...

Hallos, Wouldn't it be funny to have options on what apps the user wanted in their .sfs? After the user would have chosen their apps it should build the sfs and install it (talking about frugal) or copy it to ram to use? As it is right now there are no options , you get a basic set of apps and thats...

Hallos jamesjeffries2 Part of the reason that some of this stuff is unimplemented is to avoid bloat, a lot of puppy fans like the small size and would prefer to keep it that way. Some of the afore mentioned puplets are a bit bigger because they include things like this. This mindset is wrong, i unde...

Hi guys, here a few thoughts: 1) Seamonky OUT, Firefox + flashplayer IN its lightyears ahead of Seamonky. It also doesn't have to be really alot bigger example: Slitaz. 2) For heaven sake, enable SMP support or make 3 different releases, 1 for old hardware, 1 for recent and 1 for cutting edge standa...

Hey MU, like most widescreen laptops there is really only 1 decent screen res to use, the compaq CQ60 is no different in this regard so i really don't want to fiddle with that. I just created a new toolbar and then put a pager and taskbar onit, and it seems to do the job. I am going to apply now som...

Hallos MU, thx for the quick reply but you don't understand what i meant. NYP, Unnamed and puppy 4.2 SMP are the only pups that run on the machine. It is not the CPU bars in Conky that dissapeared (i can configure conky). It is the bottom bar of the screen (the one with the pager on it, lxpanel or w...

Hellos, great pup and one that has smp enabled (others then NYP and thisone won't run on my laptop Compaq CQ60) I found some kind of bug with it. I have installed Nvidia drivers wich work perfect, but now i wanted to edit the conky config somewhat to add batterry and stuff when i notice that my bott...

Hi Bruce B, Deviding your post in 2 parts i read: 1) I should remaster the pup.xxx.sfs manually to suit my needs and load the hole thing to ram afterwards with pfix=copy 2) In the seccond part you would introduce some kinds of mechanism to create a new file wich saves to disk once i shutdown and to ...

Hi guys, Pizzasgood thanks alot for your pointers and i will most certainly look into it since it seems doable even for someone like me with limited scripting knolledge. Bruce B, Unfortunately, these are not available options at this time. Except for the multi-session CD/DVD I think thats a shame. A...

Hi there, Would be kinda cool to build an Arch puppy and be able to use their AUR PKGBUILD system, there is ton's and ton's of software in there. After i read up some on puppy and find and setup my compiler environment, i want to dig into that. It seems not to hard to make a .pet from a tar.gz Archl...

Hi Pizzasgood, think we posted at the same time here LOL Your answer clears up a few things that i was not realizing here: - It doesn't actually WRITE to my hd but it reads from the changed safe file, that's the reason the drive spins up and can't really be hdparmed -The pup_411.sfs (the one contain...

Hi there, Buying a laptop to run linux on is tricky business. The most common problems are the exotic wireless chips they put into them vista things. Another issue is that smp seems to be not enabled in standard puppy (as far as i understand). Puppy would not boot on my Compaq CQ 60. I had to use a ...

Hellos Bruce B, Brilliant! Would it still let me write back to the HD in stead of a dvd disk though ? I was under the impression that when i used ATAFLASH it also was supposed to write back every 30 min but that seems to not work this way. Gonna play with it, eventually it will come to me hehe Greet...

Hellos MU, I was able to check and install on my Compaq CQ60 today, the ath5k for the odd Atheros 5007 (or whatever shady chipset Compaq put into it) works perfectly making this the most advanced puppy that works with the laptop. (and one of the 2 that ever booted on it lol) I still have issues with...
