PepperFlash with chrome-based Opera

Thanks Mike! I spent several weeks on and off trying to get flash working with a stand-alone installation of the new chrome-based Opera. For general information on installing Opera see: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=94572&start=28 . Careful reading of your first contribution broug...

jwm-tray configuration and urxvt problems solved

I installed Slacko 6.3.0 (32-bit) with my old save file from Slacko 5.9.3 with little difficulty. I did, however, run into two small problems which I was able to solve. (1) The old jwm-tray configuration was not accepted. I solved this by copying /root/.jwmrc-tray from the old configuration to /root...

skype 4.3 with apulse3

Finally, had a chance to test skype-4.3.0.37-apulse3-slacko14.0.sfs . Unfortunately, microphone dropped out after a minute or so with both my Acer Aspire one and my Lenovo ThinkPad R400, in both cases running under Slacko 5.9.3.

Skype mic cuts out after random time

@greengeek

Finally got a chance to try this out. Unfortunately, no go. Sound cuts out as before.

I will try experimenting with fixed settings for mic input.

Skype mic cuts out after random time

greengeek wrote:
Do you still get the same problem if you go into Skype options (audio) and untick the "allow skype to adjust my volume settings" (or similar wording)?
Excellent suggestion. I will try this out as soon as I can and report back.

Skype mic cuts out after random time

@baszek Yesterday, I finally had a chance to test moving the skype directories out of root and discovered as you did that it doesn't help. I haven't had a chance to post until now. I also tried googling "Skype linux mic cuts out after random time" and discovered that this is a long-term, ...

Skype Sound cuts out after a few minutes

I now have the same problem as baszek : Skype sound on mic fails after 3 to 5 minutes. Speaker sound still works as does video in both directions. When I hang up and call back, mic sound is restored - for another 3 to 5 minutes. Strangely, I Skyped for two hours with the same equipment (on both side...

VirtualBox [Solved]

@666philb Thanks for your quick response and the link to the new kernels. I was aware of the problem, but I guess, I was confused about where to find the new kernels. I looked around and found /puppy-tahr/kernels , which seemed reasonable, and installed kernel-3.14.20_PAE_update.tar.xz . I thought t...

VirtualBox

I have not succeeded in running Windows XP in VirtualBox 4.3.18 in either of the 32bit versions of tahrpup 6.0.1 (PAE or non-PAE). This is surprising as VirtualBox 4.3.18 works perfectly in tahr 6.0 PAE. I have tried running VBox both with my save file from tahr 6.0 and a newly created save file - n...

I finally got around to trying out 666philb 's proposed replacements for parcellite can you see if these two other clipboard managers have the same problem http://smokey01.com/carolina/old_packages/copyq-2.3.0.pet and can report that copyq-2.3.0 does an excellent job. After enabling (2) Store text s...

clipboard problem

I also noticed the problem with cut and paste noted by watchdog . The normal highlight, CTR+C, CTR+V sequence did not work in TextMaker-690 and Opera 12.16 crashed when I attempted to paste with the middle mouse button. For me, this problem was a show-stopper since I rely on TextMaker and Opera and ...

Skype 4.3 Microphone not working

@OscarTalks Thanks for the suggestion. Using pRecord for sound setup works quite nicely. If pRecord does not record from the microphone neither will Skype. Following a suggestion on an old (2010) Ubuntu forum, I tried using an external microphone in the jack provided by the Acer Aspire One instead o...

Skype 4.3 Microphone not working

@OscarTalks I compared the retrovol menus of Precise 5.61 in my lenovo R400 (where Skype functions perfectly) and my acer aspire (where the microphone does not work). The lenovo R400 menu has entries for Mic Capture, Dock Mic Capture and Internal Mic Capture . The acer menu, on the other hand, has o...

Skype 4.3 microphone not working

I tried to replicate my results with my ThinkPad R400 yesterday on my Acer Aspire netbook today. To make a long story short - sound works fine on receive, but the built-in microphone is not being recorded (Skype test call). I have checked the settings with arecord -l and they are the expected card 0...

Sometimes, when all else fails, pouring out ones heart to a search engine can get useful results. So, I googled: "linux external usb hard drive disconnects during data transfer" . All the results led ultimately to this link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/349767 , whi...

Problem with Lucid Revitalized as Server

The practical problem - accessing my music collection seems to have been solved. Both remote over the network and direct from the USB drive to the server connected to the hi-fi system in the library are working with Quirky 6.1.4. There are a number of hardware adjustments I could try - switching the...

Problem with Lucid Revitalized as Server

rcrsn51 and greengeek Thanks for quick reply! First, a slight clarification. When the drive "detaches," it remains mounted so that when powered down and up it is redetected with a higher drive letter. That is why I unmounted the drive first. I have had at least one terrifying experience w...

Problem with Lucid Revitalized as Server

To celebrate Microsoft's ending support for Windows XP at the beginning of April, I finally got around to replacing my legacy LAN based on XP with a Linux LAN based on Lucid Revitalized. I used lupuplus with the linux_kernel-2.6.33.2-tickless_smp_patched-L3. A conservative solution for my old ThinkP...
