one solution that seems to work for me is to replace
"bootsplash stop" with "killall pebble-daemon"
dont know if there are any side-effects though.

I made some changes to the file
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit script, (added some echo messages) but those changes are not reflecting on bootup.
Is this file copied from somewhere else during bootup ?
