I still use ubuntu. but Puppy is still the best live CD/ USB OS, all the others crash after a while (i.e: when you want to DO something..)
and there are a few bugs with Ubuntu on old hardware, but all I use it for, is to use the GIMP..

So, why would he want a server with no X instead of the all mighty puppy?

As the blue people would say: "Keep moving" "There is nothing to see here".
Because you can install an X server... What 'Blue people'?

Or if you want something bigger than Puppy but smaller than Ubuntu, you could use Jeos whick I think is supposed to be a server, a usb drive server??? Whatever next?? but I don't think it comes with X on it...

I had to install Ubuntu about 3 times, because the screen didn't resize properly, and if you changed it, as soon as you re-login it crashes..[/quote]

The Idea with a login screen is that when someone turns your computer on, they don't immediately have root privileges. I just really wanted something more stable, that looks a bit better.
Yes, WhoDo, I think we should stick to our different OSs'.

Is my site really that bad?

Most of my 'creative' work is done off-line. I am a Java Programmer, not an HTML coder, thus the name; JavaNut.

The name is just a name.
This is what I've found, I'm not insulting puppy, I think Its quite good for a USB drive, but a desktop? No. Not my thing.

Ubuntu (Intrepid Ibex) isn't actually that much slower than Puppy, even on the same 9 year-old hardware. plus it looks better, you can have more than one user, theres a login screen, theres far more support, and it doesn't cost any more than puppy.

Thanks..

Thanks I did another alternative; create a sym-link in /root/my-applications/bin/ to the java path, not very clean, but it works.. I'll probably still set it in /ect/profile.local

thanks!

Broken mouse

After upgrading RAM, I accidentally changed the mouse to be a serial mouse, not a ps/2 mouse.

So how do I change the mouse back to be a ps/2??
