<solved> Re: Thunderbird won't start
solved!
e-mails are stored in a profile map, under the hidden~\.thunderbird directory.
(click on the eye in ROX-filer to see it)
-> made a backup, uninstalled TB, reboot en installed TB again
Turns out profile & mail was still there, so no need to copy them back.

Thunderbird won't start
For no apperent reason, Thunderbird 3.0.4 lucid suddenly stopped working. <sigh> It's the default email program. Clicking the email icon doesn't do anything, nor does anything in the dir /usr/lib/thunderbird/ Nothing: not even an error-message. No extentions / themes installed; ./thunderbird -safe-m...

what german keyboard layout travelmate?
I'd like to install Lupu525 on an Acer laptop.
It's a TravelMate 4070 with a german keyboard, but it's qwerty not qwertz.
What layout should I use? (there seems to be an awfull lot of combinations with keyboard models, layouts and layout variants.
Thanks!

Re: installing Lupu the hard way
original it's with a: - (hyphen/minus?) but I've copied the file so now there's also a lupu_501.sfs (underscore) file... no difference there.rcrsn51 wrote:Bruce B wrote:...Is it lupu-501.sfs with a hyphen or lupu_501.sfs with an underscore?
I'll try grub4dos then... which version is tiny yet properly working?

Re: installing Lupu the hard way
I expect rcrsn51 (wakepups author and maintainer?) will pick up on this No I'm not. However, since you copied the files with DOS, you need to be very careful with the names. Is it lupu-501.sfs with a hyphen or lupu_501.sfs with an underscore? When this file get transferred using DOS, it can change....

installing Lupu the hard way
new project...new problems... hardware: cheap PIII laptop with deceased CD-drive and lousy (read: no) USB bios-options. So I manually transfered Lupu files initrd.gz / atahd / vmlinuz & lupu-501.sfs to it's HD (using FreeDos, laplink and a paralell cable). They are all in C:\ together with the I...

sharing files between two puppies
hi, in order to share (music) files on my home network I'm trying to setup pcurlftp. This should be a breeze, so I am kind of lost as where to start tinkering now that is not working. It's running on two puppies. Both are behind a wireless router and have internet acces. One is the server and the ~/...

editing grub -solved-
I've ran into trouble with grub again. Don't remember how it all started but Linux doesn't boot anymore. After installing winXP I ran puppy's grub-wizard but all I get is a kernel panic. And sorry to say: I've been mucking about with grub soo much, the original, working menu.lst is gone. The windows...

Shall I copy them back into xorg.conf? Did so... this skips the wizard, but gives a very very dark display. Well, at least it is a step forward, I guess. <edit> Not really... When I run the wizard to get a good screen, it again appears the next boot  So, now how do I get a good brightness on ...

I'm using a frugall install. All the way below is my xorg.conf file. I tried removing the # from the final line, but still I get the wizard at the next boot. # Puppy replaces the # after that. On a second thought: I also see xorg.conf.old, xorg.conf.prev, xorg.conf.t2 etc... xorg.config.old holds th...

how to config my videocard (permanently)
Since an unclean exit, (lucid) Puppy can't seem to remember my videocard.
The XorgWizard shows up every boot.
Is there some file where I can config it manually?
thanks,
Bas

OK, I installed xev. It only gives: permission denied .Xmodmap had to be created and I entered lines like: keycode 178 = XF86HomePage and this works!! Search button ditto! Well sort of. I hoped that key178 would open a browser. It doesn't. It makes the browser jump to the homepage when it's already ...
