Thar 6.0 CE both wireless and sound not yet working
I have tried to get tahr-6.0-CE_PAE running on my brand new second hand Thinkpad x131e mini laptop. But both wireless and sound are not working yet. I guess it is a driver issue. Is there anybody available who can help me fix these issues?

Portable Carolina wit LUKS?
I would like to have a bootable USB stick with Carolina which is encrypted, so I can safely put business/financial/private emails on it, carry the drive with me and do not worry too much if I loose it somewhere. I used to use truecrypt for that purpose but that is not maintained anymore. So I was th...

Currently I am using the xfce version of Linux Mint Qiana for thet reason (it is the closest OS to Carolina so far) but it is still 2nd choice. I like ...

Canon Pixma MG 4250 (4200 series) request
I hope somebody can help me out with this one. According to the sane project the Canon MG 4250 should be able to work under Xsane: http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html#S-PIXMA unfortunately it is not. Perhaps an udate is required for pixma_backend_5xx-1.0.23.pet because sane-backends is at...

True. One option to do just that is to have a raspiberry pi device at home and use that as always-on node (power consumption is just 3.5 watts or so):If peers were willing to store and forward this limitation could be eliminated.

Cloud pup is a gread idea
Great idea! I love my raspi! I am currently using one as mediacenter but the homecloud option is perhaps even more useful. And fortunately raspi's are not too expensive so I have a 2nd one now. I was thinking about the same route (homecloud) but it also looks useful to add btsync as well (does not r...

ARM version of btsync works in SAP
Yes I am doing the most obvious thing wrong: not using the ARM version of btsync. Which is here: http://btsync.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/btsync_arm.tar.gz BTW I got the idea from here. Looks like a superb idea but I have no clue of it will work on squeezed ARM puppy: http://blog.bittorrent....

BtSync in Squeezed Arm Puppy (Raspberry)?
I am trying to add BtSync to Squeezed Arm Puppy Alpha 4 so I can use my raspberry pi & puppy as my personal cloud. Unfortunately it appears that version 1 1 82 of BtSync does not want to be executed (?) However, it should be possible to use btsync on ARM devices.

nmlkngdm, first: thanks! but... I am not sure if running xbmc via wine is exactly the same thing as running the linux version of it. Often it is faster/lighter to run the version of a program which is designed for linux right?. And with high definition movies it is especially important to use the li...

XBMC update for Carolina?
In my experience Carolina is the best x86 linux distro for running the xbmc media center. But the 11 (eden) version is outdated and installing the 12.3 frodo version as .deb doesn't work in Carolina. Many xbmc repos no longer work in version 11, so is it possible to make a 12.3 version, or give inst...

Dingo Thx for your fast help. But I do not understand everything yet. Yes it is easy to split the pdf's in text+images and then compress the images. But how do I recombine those back into a new compressed PDF with embedded text? Of course I can OCR that pdf but I expect to loose text quality then. B...

Two simple security tests
One of the Snowden / NSA revelations was that many https enabled browsers and websites have the "forward secrecy" feature turned off by default or not built in at all. This means that someone who records the communication between a computer and the https website might be able to decrypt th...
