Most everything I know about network access in Linux, and wireless networks in general, came from figuring out how to get Kismet working, and what it was telling me. I haven't messed with it in quite a while, but now that I've got a new (cheap Acer) laptop, I'll have to try it again. Thanks!

I'm in a situation almost exactly like the original poster. I've got an Acer Aspire 5532, and Win7 reports the resolution should be 1366x768. Like the OP, I specify 1360x764 (x24) in xorgwizard but it won't give me anything but 1024x768. In fact, the *only* way I get anything other than 1024x768 is ...

I was about to send a friend to puppylinux.org, but I saw that the front page is defaced by a dozen or more spam comments, all dated today (5/1). Why is the front page even enabled for comments? But hopefully you won't lose a convert -- I just gave them the direct link to the Downloads page instead....

I'll try it out next time my daughter lets me touch her prized posession -- I have to promise not to hack too much -- and I'll post the results here.

Acer Aspire 5730: all but wireless, naturally

I booted up Puppy 4.1.2 on my daughter's graduation present, an Acer Aspire 5730, with no problems. Except, of course, that the built-in wireless doesn't work. It works fine under the built-in Windows Vista, but I'd like to be able to tell her that she could just use Puppy and ditch Vista. (OK, that...

Ain't that the truth? The basic gameplay seems like something you could emulate on a TRS-80, but apparently it's not possible to scroll an arrow up the screen without 3d acceleration. I just tried to install Stepmania, but not to play it from my little ol' box. I just need to convert my down...

I don't know if it'll help, but Linux requires that you specify an executable script's path explicitly, if the proper voodoo has not been performed to make it available everywhere. And unlike DOS, that rule applies even if you're sitting in the directory where the script is! So if "gpsdrive&quo...

Do you mean you kept trying until you got a connection without "infinite upload", or did you find a way to make it quit failing in that particular way?

In any case, even after I connect (I even get an IP for interface ppp0!) I haven't been able to connect to anything on the remote network... Would you be able to post a .pup/.pet of the latest version , which seems to be 0.2.0.30 (stable)? RobertB one to try is run 'depmod' in a terminal then try 'modprobe wacom' again..... lsmod will list all modules loaded....wacom and evdev should be in there. also running dmesg should show the module loading (or not) are you using this drive 'This is ONLY for the Puppy 4.00 that uses the 2.6.21.7...

My daughter, who has more artistic talent in her little finger than I do in my whole body, bought a tablet (from woot.com for $35). It's not a Wacom; it's a DigiPro USB 8x6 tablet (512 levels of pressure sensitivity), but the thread on another DigiPro refers back here. I'm on Puppy 2.17, and I have ...
