Stereo Bluetooth is another name for A2DP so yes. I think most Bluetooth capable phones have it so I wouldn't say it's anything special.

It worked for me on Puppy 4.00. To be honest, Puppy isn't the best distro to try Bluetooth with for the first time.

"hcitool cc" is rarely needed for anything in my experience. You need to modify/create an .asoundrc/asound.conf file as mentioned at the top of this page. I think you also need to have passkey-agent running when you try to use the speaker. The pincode is usually 0000. To actually use it, y...

Just so people know, I'm vaguely thinking about updating these packages to Bluez 4. It doesn't need any extra dependencies but the C version of the command line passkey agent isn't fully working right now. In fact, the version in the official tree doesn't work at all. There is a Python version that ...

I should point out that DOSEMU actually boots much faster than real DOS on the Libby and seems faster in general. I guess it doesn't have to do any real hardware detection and benefits from Linux's better drivers underneath.

Yeah, Arachne was the browser. :D FreeDOS works okay on the Libby though I did a fair bit of tweaking to the startup files. Can't remember if any of that tweaking was actually required to make it work. All this is making me sound like a DOS junkie but my heart really lies in AmigaOS. *pats his Amiga...

Can't use a PCMCIA card like that, I'm afraid. It only takes 16-bit cards and there aren't any 16-bit USB (most likely the same for FireWire) cards in existence. Believe me, I searched for hours! I was desperately searching for a way to hook up an external mouse without the replicator and even tried...

That's the one. Version 3.0 is the same as mine. I take it you don't have the port replicator? That gives you an extra slot, amongst other things. I don't know if it came as standard because I got the stuff second hand. What I really want to do is connect to the net via Bluetooth rather than wireles...

I have the Cisco Aironet 350. I'm not sure if WPA support has been officially added to Linux yet but it does exist and works for me. Remember that it's only WPA1 though. I think the only other 16-bit card that supports WPA is some Netgear model. I think there may actually be a few Bluetooth cards th...

I haven't booted it up in a while. I only use it when I go away, though I am going away again soon so I'm thinking of doing that upgrade. I can't remember how big the swap is but I run apps like Skipstone, Geany, Pidgin, and Claws Mail. I also use it for a lot of command-line stuff. Sure, it's a bit...

The .asoundrc file isn't usually needed so it doesn't usually exist. Just create an empty file with that stuff in it. The system-wide version is located at /etc/asound.conf.

The audio service is part of Bluez and is probably enabled by default.

plugz is considered obsolete now. All you need now is Bluez 3.16 and ALSA. See this wiki page . I've successfully done it this way on Gentoo but if you're walking around and it starts losing signal, things can get a bit flakey. I'm waiting for PulseAudio to finish adding its bluetooth support, thoug...

I've just found out about an alternative bluetooth stack called Affix . I gather that it's a worthy alternative to Bluez though I haven't been able to find a single piece of information about why it was written or what makes it better than Bluez. I haven't tried it myself but I suspect it doesn't re...

The utilities do not require the filesystem driver so that's why they worked but the mount didn't. I was using Puppy 4.0. I plan to upgrade in a month or so when I have time but I would not be using a module anyway since I have a full install with JFS as my root filesystem. So go build you own kerne...

Thanks! Did a search for "dbus slow" out of interest and got this . It was a while ago though. Most of the time in FOSS, people try to make the theory work before improving. That's why DBus is still unoptimised and really slow. It's slower than ORBit2/Bonobo !! I also found this PDF , whic...

Ah well. I wouldn't have thought DBus was slow, all it does is pass messages around. Maybe it needs some optimising.

As you can see from my new signature, I now have a working Bluetooth mouse on my very special machine thanks to your efforts. I hope to add networking soon. I'm still getting to grips with Bluetooth in general but this helped me to understand it a bit better. Even if Puppy doesn't officially embrace...

wpa_supplicant-0.5.10

I was having trouble connecting with wpa_supplicant 0.5.8, the version that comes with Puppy, so I created a DotPet for 0.5.10, which works for me. For some reason, it only works when I run it manually instead of via the wizard but that issue is probably specific to my adapter. You can just install ...
