Newer xorgs, such as in Racy/Slacko/Dpup/Precise seem not to need 915resolution. I tried in Slacko development and I get nice widescreen on my laptops that have it including a small eee-701SD. what precisely are you / were you using ? I was trying to resurrect my eee-701 and have tried precise 5.5 ...

As for the Flsynclient at the first desktop, I proposed synclient-wrapper-20101001.pet: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=447034#447034 This should be in PPM then? Well, I was sort of suggesting that whatever fix the pet fixes, should just be part of Puppy. Don't think it's a good idea t...

Java. Make a *symlink* from jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. That is what worked for Firefox anyway. Hi thanks - I've done that one so often it's happening in my sleep. Anyway - the latest java 6_022 is doing what I need it to be doing. One thing though: the openoffice.pet real...

Re: xorgwizard and touchpad

LupQ has different xorgwizard, I18n'ed, handles 'XkbModel' and 'XkbVariant', etc. But regarding touchpad, only 2 lines: 1389c1405 < Option "MaxTapTime" "0"\ --- > Option "MaxTapTime" "220"\ 1436c1452 < Option "MaxTapTime" "0"\ --- > Option...

no synaptics driver

Hi there, tried a fresh frugal install. First up - I really like the locale chooser, everything (almost) booted up just fine on my Samsung laptop. Sound's working, internet's workings. Only thing that isn't, is that it doesn't seem to have loaded the synaptics driver. I had this problem with the sne...

Well, just found my first problem. Wanted to configure the mouse as I couldn't click and drag using the mouse pad.

Got this error:

couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?

thoughts?

Hi, just a quick initial impression. Trying luma-002 (although I think you missed a trick not calling it lump! or mmap) on my Samsung X05 that we all had such fun with for lucid 5. Well, so far, really good news: it booted straight up AND it seems to have immediately recognised the sound card. Hopef...

have to rerun ALSA set up after every boot

Hi, one small problem with lupup 510 (otherwise, apart from the problem I was having with symlinks to dev_save that is still here, I'm really liking it). I have to run Alsa set up after every reboot. I'm wondering if this is a conflict with the deprecated modeprob warning when Puppy starts? My media...

mozilla bugs - and more info about locales

Hi, just trying out Lupup505 and first impressions are mostly very good. Quick thought first of all, when you first start puppy and it offers you the screen with the options to change all the locale etc. settings - wouldn't it be a good idea to actually say what they are currently set to? i.e. (I as...

symlink to folder

I suspect that this may be a continuation of my earlier problem - but was wondering if anybody else has had this happen. Luci 213 on a frugal install on a usbstick. Re: Intel 855GM Graphics ans Luci-213

Hi all, Success, booted the Samsung X05(Intel 855GM) with pfix=ram and it went straight to the desktop, with the right resolution, sound AND touchpad tapping working. Congrats all round. Ran report-video but this did not show any graphics drivers, so I had a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.org. This showed...

Oh and just to clarify, I'm using a frugal install on a usbstick pmedia=usbflash One more thing to try then. Thanks for your patience. The frugal install should have a file /boot/grub/menu.lst (but I dont' know much about usb installs). This would be the thing to try. Don't use pfix=nox. We found t...

openoffice.pet

Oh and another fyi problem. It looks like the openoffice pet borks the /mnt/home in the same way that the java.pet does. After installing, it doesn't appear in /mnt/home and then after rebooting the symlink /mnt/home has been turned into a folder with openoffice in it, but of course this breaks stuf...

Re: 82852/855GM

Hi, sorry to report that I'm still getting black-screen crash with luci-213. Booting with pfix=nox works. One possible weirdness: after I select the i810 driver, pick the resolution, test it, Xorgwizard reports the right resolution & refresh rate, but says that I'm using the vesa driver - is th...

Re: /mnt/home becomes folder not symlink

This is still happening. The symlink to /initrd/mnt/dev_save/ i.e /mnt/home keeps turning into an actual folder. Is nobody else getting this? It happens reliably after two reboots. The only thing I've manged to install has been firefox and java. Will see if this happens if I don't install anything ...
