Thanks guys. I have 2 PCs one is really old and basic so I'm going to try both methods, as I see the puppy installer provides a stripped down version.

Wireless Configuration

When I was running puppy off the CD puppy would load the saved wireless configuration on boot up. Since doing a full install it will no longer load the configuration on start up and I have to configure it on each start up. Is there some file somewhere I need to edit?

A repartition, reinstall and separate install of grub fixed it but now I've lost my home folder Icon (little house) from my desk top. How can I restore this, I presume it can't be that hard?

Edit: It's OK I figured it out. Tnx for all help.

Isn't there supposed to be an "initrd /initrd - xxx" line in the above menu.lst file somewhere? Doesn't grub need to know where the initial ram drive is in order to boot?

OK, so I want to do a full install. I can't install directly when in Puppy as Puppy is on hda1 which is mounted and which is where I want to install it. So, I boot from the CD using pfix=ram. This permits me to run the install procedure. Then I reach a point where a dialogue says "a version of ...
