Thanks for looking into it Dinky. I managed to get the networking working by accident last night. I went back into Puppy 4.11 and figured out all of the files needed for the B43legacy driver. Then rebooted back into Ripple with the intention of rmmod'ing all of them, and modprob'ing the B43legacy dr...

OK, forget that last request. Now I see what F9 does. Is there any way of mapping F9 to the "windows" key?

First off, great job Dinky! There is a lot to like in Ripple. I never could get CF to work in Tigerpup, but dang if it didn't come right up using 06.2. My machine is a bit out dated to be using it, since the animations are a bit sluggish, but I'll play with it for now. That being said, something is ...

Marv, the problem is there is nothing to scan in Network Manager. In other derivatives of Puppy, my wireless shows up as eth0, and the ethernet port shows as eth1. Regular Puppy 4.0 and 4.1 both show both ports this way. Boxpup only shows my ethernet port as eth0. When I go into Network Manager and ...

Wireless broken?

I managed to download Boxpup. Very nice to look at, and it looks promising to use. But wireless is not working in any shape or form. I've tried Puppy 4.0 & 4.1, both work out of the box. Boxpup is not showing a wlan0 or eth0, and when I try to load the drivers manually, it fails (bcm43xx). I was...

Hi Pete... interesting... I wonder if Compiz-Fusion is enabled at all. Easiest way to check it to look at your windows. Do yu have mac-like traffic light window buttons in the top left of your window frame, or x and o's in the top right? If it's the second, Compiz-Fusion isn't enabled. ~dinky Well,...

Dinky, is there a way to get the rotating cube effect when switching desktops? I've tried playing with settings-compizconfig settings manager. The rotating cube option is checked, but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? As a matter of fact, some of the other effects in compiz seems to not to be working...

Solved

I ended up editing the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file per this thread. My boot time went up slightly, but the internet connection was working as soon as it came up.

I believe Tiger Pup is based on an older version of Puppy, so no 4.x yet. I am using the Network Wizard to create a connection, which works fine. It even pops up a dialog box asking if I want to us this setting the next time I boot. But it never does.

Firefox and Swiftfox

I tried the Swiftfox install script, and ended up with everything extracted to a /opt directory, and an icon in the network menu. But it would just flash a screen outline. I then tried extracting a tarball, same result. I ran swiftfox from the command line and got the following: ./swiftfox-bin: symb...

Not a smooth install

I want to thank you for taking the time to create Tiger, I like it, A LOT! But I had some issues getting it up and running that you might be interested in. I was running it off the CD, and it took a few tries to xorg set up with the right video driver (ATI). But after picking it manually by trial an...

Getting Wifi to Autoconnect

Hello all, I am new to the Puppy linux world. Started looking into just a couple days ago, but wow! I am impressed! I've been running Ubuntu on my older laptop, and after tens of hours working to get wifi up and running, it was quite refreshing to load up Puppy and have wifi just work :D What impres...
