Agreed , users always want more options , I think there is a split though between automation and options , some people want lots of options , other an automatted process that will present them with a x enviroment that is at a good resolution. thats kind of what i'm trying to get is automatted settin...

got random working

How do you present a variable in my example

rndnumber="123" # will be replaced with ((Random))
<entry><default>$rndnumber</default><variable>number</variable>

all it seems to display is $rndnumber how do I present that statement as a variable from above.

Where did you learn this code from , I haven't manage to find any good sites with examples for dimbo newbie's i.e. ME :D

the orgwizard option's menu , two things really First off what i see as a bug: when the xorg wizard starts it asks you to select which environment you would like to use, however after 2 - 3 seconds the two options are covered over by text showing "dhcpd started" so you don't know what you'...

I was wondering hw to go about automating the DHCP and DNS Process at boot time , I know you can run a wizard but would like an automated Process where I plug in me old puppy and boot it to ram then just open up my webbrowser and bingo its showing google i would rather not have to go through the wiz...

I want to avoid static addressing , esp when it has the ability to live on a memory stick , the last thing you want to be messing about with is guessing dns and default gateways just to check your email!

well if i use the net-(tab)

if i use the gui it sets the dhcp also if i just dhcpd eth0 it sets the ip config but not the nameservers , i wondered what script sets the dns as the file is blank and never populates with the nameservers. I was looking to move from 301 to 412 but i'm finding lots of annoying bits like not being ab...

dhcpd -eth0 but where's my dns ?

i want to automate the dhcpd at startup but can't see how to get the DNS into resolv.conf where is the dns obtained from it must be in the dhcp response packet but wheres it stored?

puppy event manager is all unticked i checked
i have looked in

~/Choices/Rox-filer/Puppypin contains the item that i'm trying to get rid of however even if i comment that out it remains or restarting x so im unsure where its comming from.

I am experiencing the same issue

anyone sust this one out yet ?

i renamed pmount to tmount to see if it was that creating the link but it wasn't some other script is placing that icon there.
