abiword was just sort of an example to get the idea across.
Theactual idea is to save a file output from another program to the desktop so that a novice user sees it very easily.
But having rox open it at a different location should work for me as well.

How to save someing to the desktop?
Is it possible to save something to the desktop.
For example, if I am working on a document in abiword, and want to save it to the "desktop" is that possible? I know I can save it to /my-documents and then copy it over to the desktop, but is it possible to go directly to the desktop?

full-install grub questions
I'm trying to work on a remastered puppy set up to do a full install on a dedicated puppy machine. so I have two main questions. 1 Does Grub need to be installed? My impression is that even if puppy is the only OS it would need grub or some other bootloader to work. 2 Assuming grub needs to be insta...

remaster with existing cron jobs?
When doing a remaster, is it possible to keep the existing cron file? I'm looking for /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root to be in the new version It doesn't seem like there's a way to include it when the script pauses and asks for input. Is the only way with the current script going to be put a script in...

The Puppy Pin files are copied and there is even a section in the remaster script that removes the drive icons. What you need to copy over is the actual icons you installed (to the same location) and any background images etc... thanks for the responses. I have the icons copied to a /temp/root/my-d...

puplet desktop icons
Hi, So I was working on making my own puplet and I'm getting there, but when I do the respin and try it on a new machine, I seem to lose the icon pictures that I used for shortcuts on the desktop. A shortcut button shows up, but the icon is the generic one for an application. Any thoughts on why thi...

documentation and crediting?
I'm working on a puppy derivative. I'm wondering if it is cool if I take documentation from here: http://www.puppylinux.org/manuals/puppy-40/english/how-install-puppy/full-installation and modify it slightly and include it in my derivative. Also, do I need to maintain any of the puppy logos etc to m...

How do I add icons to Puppy's desktop? [solved]
So I'm trying to figure out how to add icons to the desktop.
I can take icons away, but adding seems different.
Is there a howto? Or maybe I don't even need that.
Any help is appreciated.

How to modify sgmixer default settings?
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to modify the default settings for sgmixer. When I look at the .sgmixer file in root it seems blank, where I thought there would be presets or something. Can anyone offer advice on how to modify default settings? I'm trying to do a remaster and I'd like to make sure ...
