can ROS be woofed? It is just a matter of time before your laptop will be replaced. anyone interested in taking it on? I must admit I haven't followed puppy linux's progress the last two years, kind of faded out when Barry 'retired' and a couple arguments broke out round here, so I'm not sure what ...

I can't remember if anyone's mentioned this, and its probably a big ask, but if you can get ROS http://www.ros.org/wiki/ going you'll have an awesome base to build from. Its not exactly light though, but if you only build the packages you need it will be reasonably small. We use ROS on all our robot...

The file, I believe, you are looking for, is ~/etc/profile. To stop X from loading, go to ~/usr/X11R7/bin and delete the X symlink. Great - that's exactly the info I need. I've managed to speed my total boot time to 34 s now on a 500 MHz processor with 512 MB of RAM. Getting better all the time. Th...

Which script runs the X video startup and what calls it?
Hi. I've been trying to modify puppy 4.00's boot sequence. (I'm using 4.00 because it is the one that works best with my hardware, and I haven't got time to follow up on all the new 4.1 quirks yet) Basically I'm trying to follow the scripts as they get executed and remove everything that's not neede...

I an not sure if related but there is a problem with USB tarball - check Barrys blog for 9th October 2008 - part of which is below I had a similar problem with a USB webcam freezing the 4.1 boot. I haven't tested the fix yet because I blew my laptop's USB ports today , but it seems like that's...

Compact flash reboots puppy 4.00
I'm having a problem with puppy 4.00 and compact flash - I think. I'm using a pc/104 single board computer with an internal IDE CF and boot from a USB pen drive. Puppy boots fine, but whenever I try to access rox the pc/104 reboots. This also happened when I tried to run the puppy universal installe...

He he he. I was recently at a conference exhibiting my robot and a guy from Microsoft approached me and demonstrated Ms Robotics Studio and its visual programming language (which seems pretty cool for the weekend hobbiest). He asked me what IDE I used and was rather put out when I told him I was usi...

Marblemike - Level 2 I guess. I'm relatively new to puppy (I've been convinced by my short stay), did the puppy unleashed thing to make a puplet for use in an embedded system, have never made a pet or sfs file, but figure that since I can program in C, pascal, delphi, basic, a little assembler, a li...

Samsung CLP-310 printer
Hey all, This is just general advertising (which is why its in the spam section), but anyway, I just bought myself a Samsung clp-310 laser printer and was amazed to see that on the driver cd accompanying it was a folder with the linux drivers! Basically I ran a bash script which started the install,...

Thanks for the link Lobster. I was thinking it would be easiest to get try round the dependencies and get a full blown latex system by converting the complete tetex slackware package http://packages.slackware.it/package.php?q=current/tetex-3.0-i486-5 to a .pet, but I hear puppy 4.00 isn't fully slac...

Ok, I understand now. I'd like to try - but i've never done anything like this at all though. I do need to find out as I need to make a different puppy of my own with many different features for another project so I think this would be a good opportunity to learn. I'm keen to try, but as I say, I ha...

KF6SNJ I agree with muggins.
